Jury Summons - Name change question

Kit Phisto, 9 January, 2009 at 09:04 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 2

Please could I ask for some advice on this. I have had a summons which is addressed in my maiden name. (I'm pretty sure I sent back a Electoral Register form with my amended name on). For forms of ID they request various things, one being a passport plus the form they send you - in this case they match as I've not updated my passport yet. I can amend my name on the Jury form but then I need to take two other forms of ID. I just wondered if I should update the Jury form to my married name and take the other forms of ID or if it would be OK to just use the passport since it matches fine?

I think I am over-thinking this since it is from the Courts and I'm scared!

TIA.

Just give them a call and ask. They aren't scary ?

ETA- you never know they might let you off this time while you sort your passport out and you won't have to do it!

I think you'll be fine with your passport - there are lots of women who use more than one name anyway (like me, and also a large proportion of female lawyers), and that's perfectly legitimate. You won't end up banged up for contempt of court!

KB3 - I wasn't going to update my passport yet, it costs to do it and I only updated it two years ago so it's still got quite a bit of time on it. And I do actually want to go and do it!

MsScarlett - I did think it'd be ok - as above really you can still travel on your passport as long as all the other travel docs match can't you so thought it's be the same thing.

    Thanks both.
