Just for fun - how long did it take for you to get your dress?

Stephisaur, 8 June, 2016 at 09:45 Posted on Planning 0 35

Hi Ladies (sorry gents, I don't think this is one you'll care for!)

I just thought I'd start a topic on how long it took for your dress to come in once you ordered it. I know that when I first got engaged, everyone was telling me to get it ordered quickly because they take so long!

So, I want to know:

- What designer is your dress?

- How long did it take to arrive?

- How far in advance did you order it?

Mine is a Mori Lee, it took 28 weeks (7 months) to arrive and I ordered it 17 months ahead of the Wedding.

Mines a Ronald Joyce, I purchased the sample in store as it was the right size and no one else had tried it on so took it away the week after purchase!

    Hi

Mines a Danielle Couture - got it from a bridal boutique. I went shopping at the start of March and ordered it then, apparently should come in end of July .. so just under 5 months I think. My wedding is in November so hopefully will have plenty of time to have it altered as had to get a bigger size due to the bust area but the rest of it was quite big. x

Sassi holford. It is a made to measure dress so will take 10 months to arrive and then I will have further fittings over those two months with the final one being 2 days before my wedding and then I'll take it straight to the venue. It I ordered it 2 weeks ago.

This on but with cap sleeves in the same Duchess Satin and an art deco belt (which price shocked me but it is gorgeous!) - http://sassiholford.com/dresses/emma/.

My dress is a Justin Alexander. I ordered it around three weeks ago. As I am losing weight, I've been told to go back in November to order it and that it should arrive in 3/4 months. That then gives me 3 months for fittings and alterations x

Very interesting how different a lot of these timescales are Smiley smile

I never asked when I ordered it how long it would take as I wasn't really in a hurry for it! I went in a couple of weeks ago for something else though and was told May/June so their estimate was pretty spot on! I was convinced it would arrive while I was on Holiday though haha Smiley smile

I know. The lady in the shop said that bridal shops will tell you that you need to order asap as they take 8 months to come in but she said that Justin Alexander's come in in around 3/4 months time. I hope she's right or I could be in a bit of a pickle! I'm sure it'll be fine though as designers can rush dresses through if need be x

If she's confident it'll arrive in time I can't imagine it being an issue. They do this all day every day so I guess they know Smiley smile

I never felt rushed by the shop to order mine - they just told me that I probably should as I loved it, or I could wait for the new collection a couple of months later and see how I felt then.

I do love some of the newer dresses, but I still feel drawn to mine and I almost cried yesterday when I saw it again!

I took mine away the same day (bought off the peg at Wed2B).

It's a La Prima Bridal dress and I got it in September - so 11 months before more wedding. I've now got it in for alterations (a couple of weeks ago) and then I can pick it up 2 weeks before the wedding.

How did you find Wed2B? We had one open by me a couple of months ago and they look quite good! I did look at BM dresses there but wasn't a fan of the colours.

Well, I knew that I'd have to get something off the peg because of my budget so had been searching online for something other than high street stores- they were the main ones that came up. I think they have a few stores- I went to the Bolton one.

I was glad I went, as I got my dress for just under £450 and found what I wanted, but the process was a little annoying.

You're only allowed to pick 4 dresses at a time, then they pop them on a long rail in queue. We went on a busy day so were waiting almost 2 hours for me to try on- so I probably rushed a little.

But I didn't have any dress wobbles when I popped it on again a couple of weeks ago, so I must've made the right choice!

I found THE dress, and they were going to order it in, but my Mom asked if they were willing to sell the sample dress and what discount we'd get .. so cheeky hehe.

They'd had it in for a couple of week, as it was new season (yey!), and agreed on a discount, so mines sat at the shop waiting until my first fitting in September.

Hehehehe cheeky mum! Glad you got a discount!

Are they charging you to hold it? My store wanted £25 to hold it but I wanted to play with it so it's at my mum's until alteration time! Smiley smile

Mine is a Justin Alexander- which I never thought I'd afford but it was an ex sample so I bought it 'off the rail'. It was the first time I'd set foot in a bridal shop, took me 55 minutes from walking through the door to paying for it!

My shop has charged me £50 to store my dress for me for just over a year- and their resident seamstress will be doing the alterations nearer the time and then they will steam it and make sure it's all pristine for me to pick up a couple of days before!

Now all I need to do is to loose all the weight (and a bit more) I've put on since I bought it!!

My dress is a Sottero and Midgley (Emsley) dress. I ordered it in June 15 (so 14 months before the wedding) and it took 7 months to arrive. I had my first dress fitting last week and have my next one in July Smiley smile

Mine is by Callista, I went through a shop that specialises in plus sizes because I actually wanted to be able to try on most of the dresses I liked.

I ordered it in August 2015 ahead of my wedding this August and it arrived in store in February. It's currently in my mam's spare room wardrobe ready for my fitting at the end of this month.

I went dress shopping for the first time today, saw some beautiful ones in the window and tried on around 7 dresses but the first one I tried was just amazing so I decided to order it.

Its a Sottero and Midgley (Celine) dress, ordered 10 months before the wedding. The shop suggest it should arrive around November and I'm glad I started to get a move on with it or think I might have started cutting it fine with the arrival dates!

    What designer is your dress?

Alfred Angelo from the Disney princess collection.

    - How long did it take to arrive?

I ordered it in February and it should arrive next month so 5 months?

    - How far in advance did you order it?

My wedding is in April 2017, so i've ordered it 14 months in advance of my wedding day!
