Keep hair shoulder length or get inverted bob? help

zoej1983, 17 April, 2009 at 00:02 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hi ladies, im in a dilema, I met with my hairdresser the other day and when we put my hair up into a style i liked it looked awful, it made me look older. Was thinking that if i cant find a style that i like i am going to get an inverted bob as it really suits me, but have been growing it for the wedding. Am now in two minds really, I have a tiara and a veil and am worried it may be to much if I have it cut short.

Are there any brides out there who has short hair and has pics of themselves with either or both items in their hair.

Thanks in advance

Zoe

    Hi Zoe

I have an inverted bob with the sides just about level with my chin and a fringe. I did consider growing it for the wedding but I didn't think it would get very far in 9 months! I have decided to stick with it the way it is as that's what suits me - if I grow it then it wouldn't really be me. Plus, if needs be I can style my hair myself on the day - my mum is a hairdresser so fingers crossed she'll do it for me lol.

When I went dress shopping I tried on a couple of veils which I thought looked okay, although my hair's really soft and I would need to "gunk" it up quite a bit in order to get the veil to stay put! I have also considered a birdcage veil but, again, similar problem with keeping it in place. I think I'm going to go for a headband or tiara of somesort - I have a sparkly strip just under the bust of my dress so might try to match a headband with that. I would love to splash out on a gorgeous headpiece that I can keep and pass down to my daughter if I have one.

Unfortunately, I haven't got any pics but hope this helps.

No pics on here but my best mate got married last year and she has an inverted bob - she wore a flower in the side of her hair to match a corsage on the waist of her dress - have you thought about a side hair piece or a fascinator? x

I'd say stick with the bob. I also like the idea of a crystal/pearl alice band in it or a side fascinator, rather than a veil and tiara, as this may look too much.

I have a longish bob at the moment and I'm growing my hair so that when it comes to the wedding I can decide there and then whether I want to keep it slightly longer or go back to my bobbed look.

So I'll get the best of both worlds

Tahdah - thats my plan too!!

I have had an inverted bob for past 3yrs and decided to grow it out just before christmas. I'm at the horrible looks really bad stage and its so frustrating but am hoping by next feb (my big day!!) it will be just past my shoulders so i have more options what to do with it.

If all else fails i can just have it all loped off again as i know this suits me

    ? x

When I got married a couple of years ago I had quite long hair that I wanted to have up on my wedding day but like you when it came down to it I was itching to get it all cut off into a short bob. I ended up going for it and i'm so glad I did. I had it done slightly different for my wedding day, tucked behind my ears, side swept fringe and backcombed on top to create height. I wore a tiara and a veil and thought it looked okay.

    Here's a pic:

I couldn't imagine a bob with a tiara and a veil, as I thought it would be too overpowering, but it (Kerryblu's photo) actually looks really lovely, very classy and elegant!

If you know the inverted bob suits you, then get it cut. i'm sure kath79 had a similar haircut and i think she had a tiara and veil (and was also voted most stylish hitcher at the hitched awards!!!) hth x
