Kingscote Barn

drifter, 9 December, 2008 at 16:05 Posted on Planning 0 2

Hello all

Kingscote Barn is currently runnning high (ie. number one) on our potential venue list and I wondered what anyof you ladies ahd to report on it good or bad especialy if you have ben to a wedding there on a rainy day is it awful if you are stuck inside all day (can't see how it would be but so sacred of booking a venue people won't like!).

All comments welcome as they will help us to decide if we want to make a trip to view clearwell castle or if we should go with our gut instinct and take a secondview of barn with view to booking.

Not had experience of Kingscote Barn in the rain but it's an amazing venue - absolutely beautiful. The owners have a very slick operation going on there and I would bet a lot of money on them being booked for virtually every weekend and many days during the week. If it's rainy there's still lots of room inside for guests. TBH if it is rainy wouldn't you have the same issue anywhere else. It's just that if the weather is good -well what views and space!

Clearwell is also a beautiful venue with a wonderful aisle for the entrance of the bride that you probably can't beat; you can't go wrong with either. There is also lots of accommodation locally and within short walking distance for your guests. Clearwell do some excellent deals for late bookings too.

    Hi

thankyou for replying, yes I kow we would have same issues other places with the rain but feel with the big windows at Kingscote that it might have more of an impact as everyone could see it. On the plus side I love stomy skys so I would still be Happy.

Anyone else views on Kingscote Barn?

    Hi Drifter

Yup, I've had weddings there both rain and no rain.

Obviously no rain is fantastic but rain is ok too. I would say that you should definatley think of some form of entertainment during the pre reception though. They do have large umbrellas outside for those who need to go outside for a smoke. The reception area is plenty big enough for the pre reception although there aren't many chairs available, so you may want to arrange for more seating inside. Williams Kitchen who are the recommended caterers there are great and I enjoy working with them. They are fast and efficient and have great communications as well as serving good food.

I also know Clearwell. They are so completely different, it really depends on the look and feel of the wedding you want to go for. The Barn is so much more relaxed and a bit more modern with the Castle being beautiful and a bit more grand. It also comes down to cost, although depending on the time of year, both can offer good out of season discounts.
