We had a Kleeneze catalogue through our door yesterday. I had a quick look and was amazed at the sheer number of gadgety kitchenware they sell, most of it unadulterated sh*t. Will anyone own up to buying a microwave omelette maker? Is there anything worth buying in these catalogues? The potato sacks...

Is there anything worth buying in these catalogues? The potato sacks looked alright.

I don't think you can compare Kleeneze to Lakeland at all. Kleeneze can be compared to Betterware though, both are a pile of crap and the minute the shite books get posted through my door, they get posted straight back through.

Probably already been said but the tiny tupperware tubs are great for batches of baby food to freeze.

How weird, my little brother brought this home for me last night. He got it cos two of the wee discs are missing so you can make 10.

If you don't mind me asking, do you use a 2 or 3 egg mix, there seems some controversy online!!

I'd use a two egg mix also. My basic is my grannies 4442 (4oz of flower, sugar, butter and two eggs) and I multiply it up to as many as I need!

Ah, a quick recipe I can remember, as it looks a bit like a footy formation.

How many people will this serve? ETA: sorry, this is for the 12 cake tin?

Yeah. I usually use a 6663 mix for an 8 inch sponge. The website suggests using this for the mini cakes but most of the reviews say its far too much and would suggest a 2 egg mix. I'd have no idea how much my 8inch cake serves. Two men in my house = no cake for me Smiley sad

Does this work for any number of eggs - same weight in flour/butter/sugar?

I think so, although you can just double a 2 or 3 egg mix depending on the size of the cake

Stupid Question Alert - do you weigh the eggs in their shells, or do you crack them first and weigh the 'contents'?

Brilliant - I had assumed out of shells. Although an egg shell doesn't weigh that much so shouldn't have thrown it out too much!

I use my recipie for 12 cakes, and I double it if I need to. For approx an 8 inch cake I'd do 6663. I sometimes do this also when I need to make 12 cakes for something so I have a half tray for 'quality control' !!
