*This is a long report, no apologies given!*
Background
We actually met in a little hardware shop buying wellies on a Tuesday afternoon two days before Reading Festival in 2006. The conversation went..
Him “You off to a festival?”
Me “Yup, Reading. It’s meant to rain all weekend”
Him “Me too, maybe I’ll see you there”
Me “Ha, doubtful but possible. If I don’t have a great weekend”
Him “You too”
And that was it. I walked out thinking that I knew his face from somewhere but mainly just thinking that he was fit!
Fast forward to the Thursday night at Reading, when I spot a group of people I know and low and behold there’s the boy from the wellies shop! I knew his face because I knew his brother! We were pretty inseparable the rest of the weekend.
When we got back we officially got together and a month later we moved into our first flat. People told us we were crazy, we barely knew each other but we just knew that it’d work. Our first night in the flat we told me he loved me and without hesitation I said it right back.
Three years later we’d finally saved up enough to buy our own house and six months after that I was pregnant!
It wasn’t the easiest of pregnancies with lots of trips into hospital but he was my rock throughout. Finally we welcomed our little man ’T’ into the world and we couldn’t have been happier (or more relived!)
The proposal
I’d known within months that he would be the man I married it just took him 7 years to ask the question!!
On our 7 year anniversary he’d booked us into a fancy hotel (I no idea as we always went away) and had dinner at a lovely little restaurant. After dessert he just slid the box over the table and asked the all-important question “Will you marry me?” I said yes before I’d even touched the box and it was only after having a hug and a quick kiss that I remembered about the ring! Apparently he’d been ring shopping with my mum one day when he said he’d been at work. We finished the night off by walking along the marina, already planning the big day!
