I loved the book that focused on the birthday party and remember the little girl in a gorgeous powder blue party dress. At christmas I saw the image in a book and it took me right back to my childhood. Thanks for the link off to browse the site now.
I tried to copy the image but failed miserably, how do you do it. I want everybody to see the blue dress. I also remember the kitten and the magic porridge pot, however snow white must not have been my thing.
I remember all these...i would spend ages looking at cinderella's dress! My mum hasn't thrown any of our old books out and still has quite a lot of ladybird ones.
MrRache's parents have at least fifty late 60s/early 70s Ladybirds in their clutter-filled house. We kept all of ours but they got damaged by water when we had a roof leak.
Tiptoes the mischievous kitten - was this the one with Mrs Moffat and the kitten that messed up the feather quilt? I LOVED that story!
I also vividly remember the picture of the black paws on the windowsill of the Goat story (Wolf and 7 Kids). Don't remember ever registering any of the mindless violence!
I collect old ladybird books and I have about 150 now ?
Cinderella always looked like the picture in the OP. And I also loved Rumpestiltskin, and all of those "well loved tales"
My personal favourites are the "read it yourself" ones and although I only had one as a chilld, the vegetable gang stories. I have one now, and its one of my faves.
As a child, I liked fact books (nerd alert) and particularly liked the "understanding maps" one and "your body"
For those interested in collecting, you can find some fab bargains at Car Boot Sales. Also in second hand book shops.
My favourite thing ever is to find the 50p box. <swoon>
