Landmark birthdays

Skinnyrock, 1 April, 2013 at 20:33 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 11

My OH is turning 25 in a couple of weeks and want to make this birthday extra special because of this. My mum doesn't seem to think of it as a big deal.

what do you consider to be landmark birthdays?

    Not 25!

I had a party for my 18th and a party for my 30th (although this was almost certainly a substitute wedding). The next landmark will be 40, but no party planned.

    1st birthday

    13th (becoming a teenager)

16th (was a big deal when I was that age because it meant you could legally buy fags don't know if that still applies now it has gone up to 18)

17th (because you can learn to drive)

    18th

    21st

    30th

    40th

    50th

    60th

65th (If it means you can retire)

    70th

    80th

    90th

100th I guess after 100 every birthday is a landmark as can't have many more left ?

    18, 21, 30, 40 etc. Not 25, that's nothing overly special.

This, exactly. 25 is not significant

I think it's because I'm such a birthday person. I love making people feel special on their day. Oh well I'll have to make it a special one because its his last one as a single man!

I had a quarter life crisis at 25, which is becoming more common nowadays. The only special thing I had was a giant flapjack cake. Ie 2 flapjacks made in cake tins, sandwiched together with chocolate. It was epic.

Flapjack cake sounds good to me! I may have to 'borrow' that one.

I have to admit I did find my 25th a bit more special than perhaps most people but thats probably related to having a shite 18th and a disasterous 21st!!

Under normal circumstances 25 probably isn't that much of a landmark but everyone sees these things differently.

I can't recall what I did for my 25th, it can't have been that spectacular.

i had awesome 18th and 21st birthdays, slightly weirded out that I turn 30 at the end of the month...aargh!

I think it depends on your circumstances. I didn't find 21 particularly special, I don't think it has the same significance as it used to. I found 20 hard though, not being a teenager any more. My mum has said that 30 was the worst, and that 40 and 50 didn't bother her but I've heard lots of people say differently.

I'm really looking forward to my 24th next week. Not because I think it's a landmark but because I've done sod all for my last 2 birthdays.

    This.

Nothing wrong with making a fuss of him though.
