Latin translation

I would have thought it was something to with holding a voice ? but apparently it's 'know your rights'

I think it's know your rights from what I remember about Latin...

But the interweb also says it can mean keep your voices/stop talking....?

Its not - as a sentence its wrong. vestri is plural. teneo means to hold. vox is voice. whats the context? it could mean a number of things tbh, but definitely not "know your rights"

And hence my 'apparently' ?

It seems it could be a result of online translators. A google revealed this:

I suspect I know the origin of this question and in the circumstances it would seem that the most likely answer is that it's a poor or mistranslation of "know your rights".

It was a tattoo on Angelina Jolie's arm. I don't think it was a real one though, I think it had been painted on for her film 'wanted'.

I think she already has 'know your rights' tattooed on her back in English.
