Laying new turf - anyone know rough costs?

Hia,

FIL is getting quotes to returf our knackered garden its roughly 20ft by 10ft and he is paying for it, but he has had one cowboy in already how quoted a ridulous price and the fella who came round tonight is apprantly quoting half of the other guy and he seems like a trustworthy guy.

so my question, roughly what have any of you paid to have the same thing-ish done, this guy how quoted tonight reckonss he'll have it done in a day too if that makes a difference?

cheer m'dears x

For a 28m square lawn and another of 4m square we have had 3 quotes... £1200, £170 and £220.

I'm glad the £1200 quote was first or I'd have laughed in his face.

When we moved into our new place the garden was more like a meadow. We paid £700, our actual lawn area is 40m2, however that also included cutting back all the shrubs, digging out the borders, weeding the patio and doing the front garden. Our gardener did it in 2 days. Day 1 he ripped up the old lawn and cut back the shrubs / sorted borders, then spent 3 hours rotavating and rolling the soil to prepare it. Day 2 he laid the lawn, then did the patio and front garden. 8 months on it looks fab and was worth every penny. We're in London.

We had gravel in our garden and we did it all ourselves - dug, raked, dug again, levelled etc. I guess the garden is 4m by 12m and the turf cost us £100 delivered.

    We bought from here: http://www.tealturfonline.co.uk/acatalog/turf.html
if you click on Calculate Price on the Premium Turf then it might give you an idea of how much the turf should cost and then you could work out how much the labour is on top of that iyswim.
