Leeds based hen night

littlecathy, 29 August, 2013 at 09:33 Posted on Planning 0 5

Having felt a bit down about having to pack away my planning book, my friend has cheered me right up by asking me to be her bridesmaid for her wedding next year, the day before our first anniversary! That gives me another year of planning involvement! Yay!

The other bridesmaids and I are thinking a weekend in Leeds for one of her hens - any suggestions of where we could go/what we could do? It has to be glam and sophisticated for her, so nothing that we can't do in dresses and heels... Smiley winking

Thanks! x

Leeds gets rather rowdy at the weekends, full of hen and stag parties from all over, so to get glam and sophisticated you have to be careful! Shopping is amazing here, so have to recommend that! You could do cocktail making later in the afternoon then dinner and drinks? My favourite posh restaurant and bar recently closed down (Antony's in the corn exchange) but there's a few super posh places at the top of Trinity. I've not been so can't attest to their quality but worth looking into!

I'd recommend the SkyLounge at the top of the Double Tree Hilton for cocktails. They'll reserve you a table near the window if you book in advance so you'll have views of the city. You should get table service too, so no queuing.

Harvey Nicks has a nice cocktail lounge too.

Try The Alchemist in Trinity - again you're best to book as that gets rammed.

Epernay champagne bar is lovely and near the clubs its near the spice quarter which also do nice cocktails and then revolution if you wanted to get a bit less classy hahah! Fourth floor at harvey nicks nice food and drink however not that good value for money i find but its nice to say youve been!

food: jamies italian, malmaison, fazenda, (all you can eat meat!) near the sky bar Kharv mentioned which is very nice! Browns bar is nice and do gorgeous food and very sophisticated atmosphere and amaze cocktails.Teppan-yaki is always fun theres a nice one in leeds called wasabi.

Alchemist that kharv recommended is nice and in the trinity shopping centre so you could shop till you drop then stop by there for a pick me up drink!

You could do cocktail making - i always look at swanky hotels or casinos that do it because they always have nice bars/sevice and no rabble Smiley winking

Everyman cinema in trinity center for a chill out night, watch a film on soafas with a pizza...

    Spa day?

Ooh yes the Alchemist!! It's fab!! I wouldn't call it glam though, but then that's subjective Smiley smile Browns has an awesome cocktail list, highly recommended. For food, Loch Fyne is nice too, as is Casa Mia, lots of options!

The Food Academy (above Flannels - expensive designer store) do a great afternoon tea with Prosecco and it's incredibly reasonable. My favourite places to eat at the moment are Kendells Bistro for lovely decor and top notch twists on French classics, The Aagrah for a curry, they are probably better for a large group and even have a separate room if there are tons of you, and Sous le Nez for down right delicious (again French) food.

Like others have said, Leeds on a weekend can get pretty lairy. Lots of hen and stag parties around the bars on Greek Street and the little bars on Call Lane resemble footage from a brits abroad documentary! That said, the cocktails in Brooklyn Bar on Call Lane are great.

I think that 42 The Calls (hotel) do a shopping / girly weekend package with Harvey Nicks vouchers included or something.

There are a few beauty options available without having to leave the city centre - Aveda and Mint salons jump out at me but I'm sure there are more.

For proper grown up sophistication there's a tiny little wine bar opened up behind the town hall that do wine tasting with fancy meats and cheeses.

If you wanted something a bit more activity based there are a couple of girls I went to school with who do hen party dance classes in Leeds. Let me know if you want their details.

    Hope this has been useful

    Happy Planning!
