Beginner October 2013

Lillibrooke Manor, Maidenhead

*gnashers*, 20 June, 2012 at 09:57 Posted on Planning 0 35

Has anyone looked here, had their wedding here, or been to a wedding here?

We're thinking of going to look at it as it's in a price range we can afford.

If anyone has any feedback, it would be muchos appreciated.

Not the most helpful of posts Smiley winking but....

OH said he has been to a wedding there ages ago and it was okay but did not think he wanted us to get married there. I think he was not keen on a barn per say. I have seen pictures and know of people who have married there and feedback is good.

I was keen on a barn + church wedding too but then OH has very strong opinions about sitting in "marriage class" for 6 months, pretending to be interested in religion, and he didn't like the barn concept too much mainly because of all the logistics involved in getting to the church, to the barn and then back to a hotel etc. But he is so blah blah anyway LOL In saying we did price comparisons and felt that a reasonably priced hotel as a venue offered better value and better for my nerves and stress levels!

I think Lillebrooke Manor was featured in Don't tell the bride. It looks stunning and I have also seen the Tudor Barn in Burnham which was nice as well.

Hi kirstabubbles - i went to a wedding there in the last 2 months,. i have to say it was a spectacular venue, they had afternoon tea sat outside in the garden and the kids had a room just off of it to play in. the barn itself when all the tables and charis are set up were beautfiul. if this is in your budget book it as it is very impressive. the one thing the B&G did is they produced directions form the church to the barn and no one got lost.

    Hi Kirstabubble,

I have photographed a few weddings there and also, my own brother got married there. It is very nice and roomy, has plenty of parking.

Also, I was able to photograph the wedding parties in front of the owners' home and the walled gardens (with a water feature in the centre. There is also a shaded area for guests if the weather is really hot (how likely, though?).

Behind the actiual hall, there is another secluded area where guests can go and relax. There is an old cart (was when I last went) and kids can fun on it (undersupervision, I expect).

As a guest, I found it very pleasant and relaxing.

    Good luck.

    Bob

I AM!!!! 12th October Smiley smile Really excited and love it.

My friend has been to a wedding there and said it was lovely and the bride really liked it Smiley smile

The catering has come in at slightly more than I originally thought, but we haven't gone for the cheapest options, and I do really like the careerer we are using (one of the 2 you can). And if your thinking of your own alcohol they don't charge corkage but there is a glass hire charge, and if you do this in the evening charges for the staff (some of which I am negotiating). Just a few things to be aware off - but I still think it is a good value venue that still looks beautiful. (particularly for the area)

Thanks for the info. What sort of charges are they quoting for glass hire and staff in the evening? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to put that info on the forum.

That's really helpful Sloth, thank you.

Bit concerned about the caterers being so far from the venue, as I now live in Essex (but am from Berks) so to get to the caterers is a good 2 hour journey!!

We'll still go and see it though ?

I have been to a wedding there and know of another person who had their wedding there too.

    The venue is stunning.

It was a glorious sunny day when I went for a wedding there so the wedding was in the courtyard outside.

Fab food, allowed the bride and groom to bring in their own wine and drinks for the drinks reception. Hog roast in the evening. It really is beautiful.

If you are looking for a barn in Berkshire though, have you seen Saxon barn in Windsor? That is lovely too.

Blimey, I'm feeling the love for this place!

I wish we could go and see it this weekend but because of Wimbledon, OH won't move from the sofa ?

Yes we are - it's not your typical 'wedding band' though, more of a rock band (they play kings of leon etc). We saw them at my cousins birthday and loved them.

Have you decided to go for Lillibrooke? x

It's probably our favourite on paper but we won't get chance to go and see it for a couple of weeks because of OH on wedding strike, due to Wimbledon! Which is pants.

Just hope we like it when we see it and there's dates available!

It was featured in Battle of Brides episode last week, the one with a bride who wanted a Carabean look and the other, a leather-clad biker!

I have a question for you Lillibrooke brides. Which I think is a bit of a stupid one!

If they LM have a date free we want, will the caterer also have that date free? I'm guessing not but as they only have two approved caterers, I wondered if they have some agreement in place with them?

I love Lillibrooke, we have photographed a few weddings there, and have two this year we will be photographing, one is this weekend! They are fabulous with customer service, really treat the clients well, and the food is lush. If you want a look, here is one of the weddings we have photographed there, a former hitcher who went by the name, Monkeymavis. Lovely hitcher, and a wonderful day.

i never asked properly but I am guessing as they only have 2 that you can choose from there is not a problem. They never mentioned that the date could be getting booked up, though I am in October, only just paid the deposit with 4 months to go. Put it on your questions to ask to check

Thanks Rusty and Kirsta, we Reslly enjoyed every bit of the day, it was seriously fun. Ona more personal note, Monkeymavis is going thru a lot of Health issues, so keep her in your thoughts. She is one heck of a strong lady, but could use all the positive thoughts she can get.

Antway, it is a fab venue, I hope you can get out there to check it out in person. Smiley smile

    Hi ya

I'm getting married here next June - love the Venue!

Just trying to work out which caterers we are going to go for.... for all the brides who are getting married (or already have) at Lillibrooke - what has your experience been like with the 2 caterers and which ones are you going for?

    Thanks
