Liz Earle Hot Polish Cleanser

smilesjp, 19 of March of 2014 at 12:56 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 20

After nearly loosing all hope with my skin, I bought Liz Earle Hot Polish Cleanser on a whim. I've heard great things, and the product itself is quite lovely. I've basically been having red bumps and lumps appear on my skin for 6 months now, a fresh new batch appear every morning, mainly on my cheeks. I have a feeling it's acne rosacea, as little tiny white spots appear on my cheeks from time to time also. I've changed my pillow, use only mineral makeup, use a rosacea busting natural moisturiser, only drink water, changed my washing powder, so this was my last hope.

Anyone had any experience with Liz Earle products? Or had the same problems I've been experiencing?

Have you been using cleanse and polish because of the problems, or have the redness and white spots occured since you started using it?

I've never got the hype about this stuff. I used two bottles of it and couldn't get on with it at all. It didn't even get my make up off properly!

(No idea on the skin blemishes though)

I love that cleanser, but can't afford to use it regularly. I've never had any problems with it, but despite being dry, my skin is quite hardy so rarely reacts badly to new or different products or ingredients. I'd say a cleanser is unlikely to make any difference to acne cos it stays on your skin for such a short time - have you considered asking a doctor?...

I've been using the hot cloth cleanser and toner and moisturiser for about 6 months now and I have to say it's done wonders for my skin, I suffered with red patches on my cheeks too and they've completely gone, my skin feels myuch softer and it looks healthier too, I would highly recommend it, of course every person is different but I wouldn't use anything else now, only downside is that it's not the cheapest but you always get freebies when you order and a little goes along way.

I do like it, and I've gone back to using it after a break of using Superdrug's dupe. It's still good, but I don't think it's as good at getting make up off as it used to be, but I think that could be attributed to me also having more wrinkles, craters and general minging skin. They've recently changed the formula and removed almond oil, and a lot of users are putting are now putting a little of it on with it themselves to spin the cream out. I find it's beneficial when I've not got make up on to start with, so I try and wipe the worst of my make up off first with dissolving make up remover, so that the C&P can work on my skin instead of ontop of a layer of slap.

The white spots you talk about could be Millia (long standing issue of mine), or they could be blocked pores from using products that are too rich for your skin.

Whats the name of the SD dupe? I'm a bit of a FdF addict and love her suggestions for dupes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YwDL35YqJQ&feature=youtu.be

I've tried a few of the 'hot cloth' dupes and usually find them too greasy/slippery (if that makes sense). I think any creamy cleanser works well with a muslin cloth, although at the moment I'm using that L'Oreal oil to take my makeup off.

I didn't get on with the L'Oreal oil at all, but I do like the Micelular water stuff, good for eyemake up.

The Superdrug dupe is this one:

I'm seeing a dermatologist on Monday. This is the first cleanser really that doesn't either burn my face, or make it feel extremely tight. The only thing I cant seem to get my head around is applying it on top of my makeup to get rid of it.. But it seems to work. It doesn't help that I'm quite an anxious person and tend to touch/pick at my skin without even realising I'm doing it. It's just odd that I'm breaking out now, whereas during my teens I had super clear skin.

I swear by this stuff. Even when I've had a shower, cleansed, scrubbed and dried my skin, this stuff still finds makeup to get off!

I use emulsifying ointment from the chemist.

it is brilliant if you have dry skin, cleans off make up, leaves skin feeling soft and costs about a fiver for a HUGE pot.

It was recommended to me by a GP when I had bad eczema on my face.

My skin's been a bit weird since I went in the spa/ jacuzzi at our venue (won't be doing that the night before the wedding!), lots more spots than usual, and exaggerated dryness on my cheeks - I have very annoying combination skin. So someone recommended the Liz Earle system to me, esp as they've got a MArch deal on the whole system (which came with lots of lovely freebies).

I'm going to start trying it tomorrow, with 9 months to go til the wedding, on the basis that I can either a.) drop it and find something else if this doesn't work with plenty of time until my skin settles down or b.) make it my routine up to and including the day and evangelise about it to all and sundry.

    I will keep you posted...!

I like the cleanser, the only thing I struggled with is that I had a 2-3 week break out period when I first used it. It did settle down after a few weeks but has put me off using it again. At the moment I am using face wipes, then a Clinique Foaming Cleanser followed by Bioderma, it is amazing how much make up still seems to be on my face even after face wipes and a cleanser!

I have never tried this but keep on meaning to. A friend of mine with very sensitive skin swears by it. Has anything else changed with you? Since l moved house then my skin has been a lot drier as the water where we have moved to is stupidly hard.

Flora it could be good for you in respect that you ring out the cloth, so shouldn't be too wet on your skin
