London park for wedding photos?

stixmcvix, 13 April, 2010 at 18:31 Posted on Planning 0 2

Hi all, I'm getting married in June at Marylebone Town Hall in London, and have hired a Routemaster to transport guests. I was planning on having photos with my guests and an impromptu drinks reception in Regents Park, and was told by a member of staff that the Routemaster could drop off guests on the Outer Circle. I've now rung them to confirm today and was told that I've been "misinformed", and that I can't access the Outer Circle with my bus!! I don't really want to make guests walk too far as we have some elderly guests. So does anyone know any other parks/large gardens/open spaces in London fairly near to Marylebone Town Hall that I can use for photography without a) being ripped off by someone for hire charges/photo permit fees and b) having to park miles away?

Thanks!!

Victoria

There is Cavendish Square behind John Lewis in Oxford Circus. It is a small green area, but it does get busy lunchtimes Mon to Fri with workers eating their lunch there. Sometimes the air ambulance also lands in it. The traffic wardens are quite quick but you should be ok with the bus as there is a bus waiting stand.

There is an image on Flickr here of Cavendish Square.

There is also Hanover Square which is in the same area.

I did shoot a wedding at Marylebone Town Hall where the bride and groom stopped the Routemaster bus (opposite Royal Albert Hall) and ran into Kensington Gardens to take photos in front of the Albert Memorial, though that was very quick as the bus was on a single yellow (no more than 15 minutes).

Both Hyde Park and Regents Park are nearby and are lovely - but it depends on just how mobile your elderly guests are. There's a public gardens just off Marylebone High Street if I remember rightly (at the Baker St tube station end), but not sure if these would be ok for photos - you might want to do a reccy first.
