Long/tunic tops with skinny jeans? Yay or nay?

Eda001, 15 October, 2008 at 12:59 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 4

I need some serious fashion help! I am well and truly in frumpy mummy mode and have no idea what to wear these days.

I have a few nights out coming up soon and I need a new outfit. I spent a lot of last winter in long tops and skinny jeans with boots but I'm not sure if this is 'in' this year. In fact, I have no clue what is in. I'd like to look fairly up-to-date but not like a fashion victim as I tend to wear what suits me rather than latest fashions.

One of my nights out is with some old work colleagues who are always really trendy and will no doubt take me to some happening night spot. Now while I can't dress like them (they are both very slim, gorgeous etc) I don't want to feel like a total frump.

I'm 5ft 6 and a size 12 though I'm wearing size 14 jeans due to jelly belly and size 12s giving me a hideous muffin top. Any ideas on what style of clothes would be good? I was also thinking of dress with opaque tights as my legs are not too bad but I have no clue where to begin.

Thanks in advance wise Hitchers.

I have no idea if it's fashionable or not but I wear this sort of thing all the time. I have some lovely long tunics and jumper dresses from White Stuff that I wear with either skinny or slim cut jeans and boots.

Thanks DST. I've not heard of White Stuff before and just looked at their website. They've got some nice things.

I think your idea sounded good - how about a black low cut jersey dress with black footless tights and some funky accessories? heels or flats depending on what you prefer...

I'm an hourglass shape and I look hideous in this - but I do love the look on others. Great is you've got slim legs/thighs and are trying to his a bit of a tummy.
