Low-key wedding

Cr, 15 March, 2023 at 22:06 Posted on Planning 0 5
Not long engaged and I've been starting to tally up costs of planning a wedding. Realistically, I wasn't wanting to spend over £5/6k but, even with one of the cheaper venues we like, this is still rather tight.

Our alternative is to have a civil ceremony - possibly at registry office - with a few of our close friends, then rent out a room in a lovely pub we know and have around 30 guests for wood fire pizzas. Has anyone done anything similar? I feel this would be very laid back which is what we want but wanted to see if anyone had some inspiration!

We had a private dining room in a hotel for 28 of us. Drinks in the private area of the bar before a 3 course meal and then music, chatting and video games into the evening. That was laid back for us.

Based on your idea it sounds like that may be more formal than you were thinking, but it may help with another option for you.

My sister did something similar. They got married in a registry office and then hired out the upstairs mezzanine level of a restaurant/bar that did a lovely sit down 3 course meal. It was so relaxed and fun. They let one of her friends up early to decorate and it looked lovely.

Her original plan was a little pub which was going to provide a buffet, but they cancelled on her 6 weeks before the wedding - luckily a few posts on social media led her to her new venue who went above and beyond to make it happen in a short space of time.

Ah Sarah, this has reassured so much as it's exactly what I've been thinking. We also don't want a long engagement so this sounds perfect.

    Thank you!
