Maggie Sottero plus size dress woes causing tears :-(

Hi ladies, I am feeling so down today. I have been dress shopping all weekend with my sister and tried on loads! I really like some of them but have just not had that WOW reaction yet. The nearest I came was in the Maggie Sottero Priscilla… I loved the train and the shape it gave me but there was still something missing :-(

I have since been having a nose around on the Maggie Sottero website I have fallen completely head over heels for two other dresses; Sabelle and Decadence. They are stunning and could be absolutely perfect….. If I could only just try them on!! This is what has got me so upset. I am plus size (around a 20/22) and the shop I tried on the Priscilla is the only really local Maggie Sottero stockist and they just happened to have that one in an 18 to try. They don’t have either of the two other dresses in any size.

I have been scouring the internet and have seen quite a few plus size brides looking absolutely amazing in these two dresses! Being my size I am far too scared to order a dress that I haven’t tried on, but nowhere seems to have any larger size samples of these dresses! I have emailed quite a few stockists and have either had no reply or a message saying they don’t have the dresses. At this stage I am quite desperate enough to drive across the country to try on one of these dresses but even willing to do that doesn’t seem to help.

I don’t really expect anyone to be able to help, I just wanted a bit of a moan and a cry really! Thanks for sticking with my grumbling to the end! xx

    There is a HIB on here, I think its Embrace Bridal that does plus size, and she also may be able to direct you to a plus size stockist close to you. Perhaps put a message for her attention and hopefully she'll see it.

    I don't know where you're based, but there is a bridal store called Chameleon in Bournemouth, which stock Maggie dresses. They regularly have plus size maggie designer days. There is nothing on their website at the moment, but it might be worth giving them a call, and seeing when their next day is? They also told me that if they don't have a particular dress in the store, on the designer day, they would be able to get it in for you to try on.

    I'm not a plus size bride but I love maggie dresses! I wanted to try on the Sabelle it is around 3years old now and when I went to a bridal store that stocks maggie dresses I was told it had been discontinued... Do you may be better off searching for it on pre-loved sites!

    Thanks porkchop, I'll try looking her up - although I have found some plus size shops around locally just haven't fallen in love with any of the dresses I tried on in them as much as the Maggie ones. The one I tried on in an 18 wasn't a plus size specialist, but they had quite a few dresses I could try.

    scully82 I've never heard of any stores ordering in dresses to try for a fee! That sound really interesting! Maybe I'll have a cup of tea and try to come back a bit more optimistic tomorrow and go for round two by calling as many stockists as I can to try and find one that might do this for me! When I tried to look for contact details for the designer I kept being directed back to finding local stockists :-( they only want to deal with retailers directly... boo!

    I totally agree about the average sized woman bit! I am above average but my friend (UK size 14) was sent out of a local store in tears when they told her not to bother looking through their rails because they wouldn't have anything "big" enough for her!! :-( :-( in my opinion she's on the skinny side!!

    LOL some of the dresses are FAR too long. I thought one dress I tried on looked lovely on me, then I got down off the step and realised I looked really short, almost as if I was kneeling - I'm 5'6!

    Oh! I haven't been told this yet though, I saw a bride online that had ordered it about 9 months ago.....? I will ask specifically now though - thanks for the heads up!

    My Oh family all live in Bournemouth! A visit could very easily be arranged! thanks for this, they will go on my contact list to try tomorrow when I plan to try again with a more optimistic approach!
