Make up

Joanna, 21 May, 2023 at 22:31 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 9
I think I'm going to do my own make up on the day as it's so expensive for a beautician . What recommendations for foundation anyone. I have a couple of blemishes to cover. Red areas.

I did my own makeup and bought a lot of new makeup because I don't wear it often so most of mine needed replacing. I bought my foundation from E.L.F. as I saw good reviews, they have a good range of shades and undertones so better chance of getting a good match and it's cheaper than a lot of the usual brands. I also liked the virtual try on so you can test which shade is best for you.

I am doing my own makeup as I have loads of allergies, so I wanted to be confident I wouldn’t break out in Hives on the day!

I’m using Bare Minerals for my Primer, Foundation & Concealer. They have a liquid long-wear that’s vegan foundation that’s worked really well with my skin, and they have a fairly extensive range. It’s cost me more to get all the products than to hire someone though. There’s 16 different products involved in my bridal makeup. It sounds a lot, but very few things are single product - if you think skin, I have a spf primer, normal primer (you really don’t want your makeup to slide anywhere), colour corrector for purple blemishes, concealer for red blemishes, foundation & setting powder, before we add anything else on.
If you want a light look, already own most of what you’d want to do, or have allergies etc., I’d say go for it, but if it’s on cost alone, I’d look into costing up both options, as you may find £100 to get your makeup done is cheaper than buying (in my case) 16 new/different products.
    Good luck either way!

Thank you that's so useful. I will check them out. Be good that you keep the products if you purchase though so you can use again..

I haven't heard of that brand before. I like the virtual try on idea. Maybe a change of make up all round for me.

I'm using a MUA but providing my own primer and foundation as my skin does not react well to unfamiliar products. I'm using Boots No 7 primer and hydraluminous foundation. I actually bought some expensive Charlotte Tilbury primer and foundation to try but I thought it made my skin look patchy and dry.
