marquee for reception.

Mummy.and.Bride.to.be1996, 15 January, 2018 at 13:51 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hi all, we are looking at getting married next summer,

and we are having the ceremony in our vilage church, and then we are putting a marquee on the front field at my grandmas (farm-sized) house.

we have emailed a few local companies, and they've quoted us like £5000! which sounds like a lot to us (do correct us if were wrong! first time doing this!)

but our main issue with it is that we have found a marquee online for £500 for a 12 foot by 6 foot we have said if we were to buy two of them, and have the sides open down one side on each and attatch them together this might work.

has anyone done this before? did it work as planned? any advice or tips on marquees in general?

thanks guys and dolls! Smiley smile Smiley heart

I'd totally recommend a capri tent instead of a traditional marquee. They're cheaper, more modern and a blank canvas. Granted we married almost 4 years ago, BUT two connecting capri tents (one for dancing and one for dinner, about 30' by 40' each) with flooring, lighting, dance floor, 10 tables AND toilet trailer came to just over £2K, all set up too. All we had to do was decorate. I'm in Sussex, but can give you the name if it helps.

    Hi,

When booking a marquee you're also paying for the transport of said marquee x2 to the address (will require either a flatbed trailer or a large lorry) the labour of the guys to put it up and take it back down, hammer in pegs, attach tension rope etc. Does your quote include a power hook up? The generator and fuel to run the marquee depending on your power requirements. Does it include flooring? Hard wood or woven matting? Tables? Chairs? Lights? Heating? Marquees are an expensive business due to the fact you're basically erecting a hospitable building from scratch. I work in events so deal with marquees alot! How big is the marquee you've asked for a quote for? I'd expect to pay around £4k for a 9m x 30m structure BEFORE adding any of the necessary fluff added above! Our quote comes to just under £7k for everything x

£5000 to £10000 was our general price range for marquees, we looked at getting our own but once we looked into it we realised that we would need flooring, lighting and a generator as well as the toilets. It hugely depends on where you want to put your own up, if you need flooring, what the weather will be like, if you need lighting and a generator etc. Make sure you price up everything you need before you decide which is cheapest.

    Heya

We are paying £3700 which includes 27m x 6m marquee, 6m x 4m catering marquee attached with baffle screen, walls, lining, lighting, generator, gutters and loos.

This was the cheapest quote we received and we chose them not because of the price so much as we know them already and they are the most experienced, we felt more confident in them.

The other companies who quoted weren't as comprehensive in their pricing in the quotes so we didnt want to pick someone based on a price which then ends up having loads of additional costs later on.

What area are you from? I can recommend the people for mine if its helps
