Marquee venues in Manchester/Cheshire/Peak District area

*Zoe B*, 24 July, 2012 at 22:52 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi there all, I've just joined the site as a newly engaged lady (May 2012) and guess the first place to start is with a venue (and approximate date of course) We're thinking of having a marquee wedding with a lot of DIY involved to keep costs down.

The only problem to that being I don't know where to start looking for somewhere to host the marquee! Does anyone have any recommendations for budget venues in the Manchester/Cheshire/North Peak District area that are happy to have marquees erected?

OR does anyone know of any relatively cheap but nice venues around the area for around 100 people that don't have an extortionate venue hire cost? Have done tonnes of 'googling' but I'm slowly losing the will to live!!

Thank you ?

Zoe

    Hi,

We are getting married at a place called Hargate Hall which is in Wormhill, just outside of Buxton in the Peak District. They have a perminant marquee which is gorgeous and the hall is awesome if you want to do a DIY wedding. They basically give you the run of the place for the whole weekend. They also do a brilliant weekday package which is what we are doing.

Hope this gives you something to look at Smiley smile x

To be honest i would look for a venue if you are on a budget...a marquee can add up to a lot more once you factor in all the extras (tables, chairs, linen, toilets etc)

depending on your budget and the style of venue you want...we are getting married at tabley house near knutsford and then having the reception at the tytherington club near macclesfield...you can put a marquee in the grounds of tabley if you want but as i say it isn't cheap with all the extras....the tytherington club is one of the most reasonable venues we found...their package is £2500 for 60 people for a welcome drink, 3 course meal, glass of wine, toast drink and evening food...each extra day guest is charged at £34 a head and every evening guest at £4 a head so if you are just having 100 to the whole day you are looking at £3860 and that doesnt go up depending on whether you have a saturday/summer wedding either which a lot of venues do...it depends where you want to actually have the ceremony too... x

We were originally planning on having our wedding at The Hall at Marthall. Basically a village hall which has had lottery funding and is a complete blank canvas.

When adding up all the extras we decided to keep looking and got a really good deal at Wincham Hall.

Once you factor in decorating the venue, catering etc it doesn't always work out cheaper to do it all yourself!

    Just a few ideas

    Sam

Thanks everyone, it's certainly given me a few places to start Smiley smile

Didn't think it would be so difficult and it doesn't help having rather a large family. Think we'll be looking at around 100 for the day, although we were thinking of a less formal do (not really a sit down meal, more of a late afternoon hog-roast buffet) so I guess that would save on costs.

Looking forward to going to visit some venues soon! ?
