Marriage certificate changes affecting honeymoon package!

Hi,
I am looking for advice, I have recently read that as of May 2021 you no longer get your marriage certificates on the day of the wedding you sign a schedule that has to be filed within 21 days.

The questions I have are;
1- who is responsible for filing the schedule us or the registrar? 2- Do you get to keep a copy of the schedule and has anyone used this as proof for honeymoon packages we fly out for our honeymoon 2 days after the wedding and in order to get our package we needed our marriage certificate I’ve email the resort who said they will require proof of marriage for us to get the deal? Did the schedule count as proof?
I’m just concerned we will loose out on the package I tried to ask the registry office but they said they couldn’t help.
Any feedback or advice would be appreciated.

Hey, we are getting a commemorative form to take away on the day, it's signed by the witnesses. I only found out they do this when paying the final balance. It cost £5 from our registry office. You could ask if they do something like that and could use it as proof?

I tried to call and ask I was told they were unable to help perhaps send an email which I have done but it could take some time to get a reply.

Thank you that’s really useful to know I will look in to this and perhaps this will be suggested when they get back to me. I have paid the last balance but never informed or the changes I just stumbled across it online.

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply, this notification got lost in my emails.
I spoke to Essex registrars who said I can pay £35 on the Monday (next working day) after my wedding so that the certificate would be expressed. It is then ready the next day. I also agreed someone could collect it on behalf of me and then email me a copy.
I ok’d this with my resort who said they would accept this.
Hope this helps, it’s all a bit of a nightmare that they changed it.
