Hi all,

I'm an OT-er so don't post over here but thought you could help.

I'm going to a wedding soon and the list is with marriage gift list. I'm probably being very stupid, but I can't work it out! There's no delivery service so do I order an item, it gets delivered to me, and then I take it? The wedding is in a couple of weeks so I haven't got long. Or am I supposed to go and buy it? Which is also daft.

This website wasn't around in my day when I got married (5 long years ago) ?

Appreciate any help x

This is taken from their FAQ section:

    Q. What guarantees do I have that gifts selected through your website will reach us?

    A. The web site is only a portal to create your list. When you purchase the item you are doing so through the store.

    Q. Is there a charge for the delivery of the gifts to our home?

    A. This depends on which store you are getting the present from, we are not involved in delivery.

so basically, your friend/relative has created a list of things they want through lots of different shops, you pay through the shops website, and i'm guessing you pay for delivery either to you or direct to the b&g.

but i've never seen it otherwise before, so i could be wrong!

That is not at all clear!!! I would guess that the gifts are delivered to the couple, but I would contact them to check and suggest that it is made clearer.

Thanks, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought it wasn't clear!

There's a note when I log in from my friend saying there's no delivery service to the b&g. So I guess what bluewater says is right. Although why deliver to me, when they could just deliver to them? Weird.

    Might just send cash ?

Im using marriage gift list.com because i thought it was so easy!!! lol!!!

Basicly when you set it up you can list gifts from any website. Then when guests log on to view your list they click a link which takes them to that store and page with the item onit. You then go through to buy it from the store as you would normally, then you put on the gift list if you purchased it or not and leave a msg for the couple. Couples can then log into see what has been bought, but not by whome until after the wedding.

I found it very easy to set up, and it was great that you got to print out your own cards to put in the invitations pointing guests to the website direction. But, that is all it is - a list of website addys to show peopel what you want.

I got this as i wasnt even sure i was gonna have a wedding list until the week before i sent the invites out, and it just suited us a lot more than sticking to one store.

I'm using it too, as like chicken82 I thought it looked really easy, but lots of my guests are asking me questions about how it works!! Also, once you've been to one of the websites and bought something, you have to go back and tick the 'yes' box to say you bought it, so the b+g know who bought them what and so it disappears from the list, but I don't think people have been doing this either! eek.
