'marry in the month of may and you'll live to rue the day!'

buggerlugs, 19 June, 2010 at 22:11 Posted on Planning 0 12

Married when the year is new, he'll be loving, kind and true
When February birds do mate, You wed nor dread your fate
If you wed when March winds blow, joy and sorrow both you'll know
Marry in April when you can, Joy for Maiden and for Man
Marry in the month of May, and you'll live to rue the day
Marry when June roses grow, over land and sea you'll go
Those who in July do wed, must labour for their daily bread
Whoever wed in August be, many a change is sure to see
Marry in September's shine, your living will be rich and fine
If in October you do marry, love will come but riches tarry
If you wed in bleak November, only joys will come, remember
When December snows fall fast, marry and true love will last

We are set for may 2011-oh dear lol

also-

Monday for wealth,
Tuesday for health,
Wednesday the best day of all,
Thursday for losses,
Friday for crosses,
Saturday for no luck at all.

Not looking good for us is it lol

I've never heard this but combine it with me being born on a Thursday 'Thursday's child has far to go' it looks like I'm not gonna be able to afford to be a stay at home mum!!

Thank you for that! We are getting married in December so "true love will last"but what do "crosses " mean as we get married on a friday? It's strange cause my first marriage was in september and can't complain about the life i had...

Well I'm not sure what that means, but as most of us here are getting married on a Saturday we are all doomed!!

There are loads of myths in the planning section on here.

This is the most bizarre one :

It is fortunate for a bride to meet a lamb, a dove, a spider, or a black cat on her way to church: but a pig or funeral are bad omens, and country brides fear the crowing of a *** after dawn of the wedding day. It is also fortunate that if on the journey to the church the bride sees a policeman, clergyman, doctor or a blind man. The groom should give a coin to the first person he sees on his journey to the church for good luck.

Unless you live on a farm how the f are you going to meet a lamb on the way to the church?

Oh dear, July sounds bad, and I'm sure the Sunday bit isn't great either hehe! Oh well, I'm still happy with my July 2011 Sunday wedding even if the poem doesn't have as much optimism x
