Martini glass table decorations

chocoholic_claire, 27 March, 2009 at 08:30 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone had some advice about having the huge martini glasses as table decs? I was at the wedding show at the NEC the other week and one, thought it was great! My MIL2B is super excited about the idea, and is already looking around for vases (although the wedding is till 15 months away lol ? )

We were thinking of vases with clear water crystals, and floralyte in the bottom and then something like a huge hydrangea head in the top. Our colour theme is going to be blue, would a hydrangea be the best idea? I'm struggling to imagine it in my mind! I was also wondering if anyone had used this kind of decoration for the top table, as an alternative to the more traditional long and low arrangements? Can you tell I've been at home ill this week.....far too much time to think about wedding stuff!

Thanks very much,

Claire

    We have used the Martini Glasses lots of times. Your Ideas sound perfect but check that Hydrangeas are around when you are getting married. Lots of flowers are now imported so should be available.

    As for the top Table I would not use them as they are too tall & block the view of the Wedding Party & Guests, an alternative would be the shorter ones at each end & a Round Bowl in the middle to leave a clear view.

    There are lots of pics in my albums if you want to have a browse through under, Table Decorations & Venue Decor.

    I absolutely love this idea too, and really want the same sort of thing as you described (clear crystals, etc) as table centrepieces. I want my colours to be quite soft and neutral so I think we'd go for just the green foliage with cream flowers, a bit like this:

    I think they look brilliant and won't block people's views of the person opposite them on the table either! The only thing is, when I showed this pic to my OH last night, he commented that he thinks the glasses look a bit "too Las-Vegas." I totally disagree and I love them, but we might have to come to a compromise if he still doesn't like them when we go for a few flower consultations ☹️

    Not sure about Hydrangeas as I'm totally clueless on flowers and what's in season, etc, but I'm sure you'll be able to find something that fits your theme and colours - blue sounds lovely!

    Thats exactly what I'm having! Black martini glasses and white hydraneas. Getting married in July so I'm sure there will be some pictures posted in time for to you have a look at before you have to decide on your flowers.

    Seeing the florist tomorrow to discuss top table arrangements.

    If you struggle to find fresh ones, you could try the deep blue silk hydrangeas?

    I really love the martinin glasses and think they look amazing with the crystals & floralytes. They come in various sizes so don't have to be massive! here are the sizes we can get

    *Height 257mm; Diameter 228mm
    *Height 400mm; Diameter 265mm
    * Height 500mm; Diameter 280mm
    * Height 600mm; Diameter 280mm

    We can also hire these out if you don't want to buy the and have to sell them afterwards

    Thanks again :-) So many lovely ideas! Any recommendations for the top table? I had always imagined a long and low arrangement, but I'm not sure if that would tie in with martini glasses (with them being tall)? It's a small reception, just 4 round tables and then the top table.

    Thanks

    You could use the smaller actual Cocktail Glasses from IKEA for the top Table as they are small enough to see over, fill them with a Blue Florists Gel & a floralyte & just place some Ivory Hydrangea on the top, place Tealights in Blue Votives in between them like the Purple in my pics.

    Hello!

    My OH's aunt is a florist and doing ours for the wedding. We wanted pinks, creams and green with ivy trailing out and I love the vintage style so love the pink hydrangea. We had no preferences re vases etc and generally had no other ideas re flowers. They suggested the martini glass idea, and we loved it! So we're having one on each table with cream and pink roses, bits of green hydrangea and ivy spilling out. Can't wait! They are alsoputtin a normal sized glass on the top tier of the cake as a mini version - thought that was cute.

    Hydrangeas tend to bloom in August, but they are available and are a good price due to being a big head of flowers that can be broken into smaller parts (like broccoli florets!)

    Your tables will look fab!

    Good luck!

    S xxxxx
