Meetings with venue wedding coordinator

This is probably more of a post for those whose weddings are within the next 4months ish or those who are already married, but does anyone know for definate how many meetings they should have with their venue, and how close to the wedding would their last meeting be?

I had my first proper planning meeting with them in july and have contacted them to ask when we will meet again, whether we should do it before or after xmas. She's suggested we do it in January. So I'm looking at dates etc to figure this out and should I be expecting another final meeting a few days or week before the wedding or should I assume January is our last meeting?

    We had one in August and then it was just emails and phone calls but then again r venue was a hour n half away so meetings where not that easy to make anyway, I would play it by ear, if you feel like you need another closer to the time just ask to arrange one.

    Weve had 3 so far, one last month which answered so many questions we'd never even have thought of 4 months ago. We're seeing her again in Feb but in the mean time she sends us emails so keeps in touch. We're having separate catering though so are dealing with them separately, and same with bar.

    We had our final (of 2) meeting with the wedding coordinator 2 months before, to go through all the details (menu choices, timings, numbers). We then had a meeting with the event manager who would be running our day 2 weeks before, at this meeting he ran through the details from the previous meeting plus any information we’d provided since that meeting (eg table plans), anything we were bringing to the venue the day before, timings for the day again, just a good chance for us to meet as he’d be the one there on our day.

    True... venue is an hour away for me as well, and at the moment I can only arrange meetings between 8-3 on weekdays which makes it harder to schedule, but maybe closer to the time they will be more flexible about times and let me come after work or something (work is closer to venue than home is)

    You already had a planning meeting with them in July and you dont get married til March?? They are definitely more organised than my venue!! We had our first meeting with them 12 weeks prior then the next one is 4 weeks prior and final one week prior x

    Hi, we had one 3 months prior and since then it has just been emails and calls (e.g. to inform them of final numbers of vegetarians etc.)

    I would think that a meeting in January will be fine.

    So far iv had 3 meeting, 1st to have a look around, 2nd one to booked the date and pay despite and just had one this afternoon as we wanted to add on something and also check a few things as the hotel had change hotel group they was in, we not seeing her to sept 2013 now for our main detail one plus flower lady also having a menu (if anything like the bar meal we just had we desided to stay for some food going be amazing) then I know I have a meeting with her the day before wedding but am always emailing her to check/ asks things, and my wedding no to 7th June 2014.

    I can't remember exactly how many we had but most were casual things, we decided there was something we needed to speak about so emailed to arrange an app for the following week. Think our last one was 2 weeks before, but as above poster says, play it by ear and just have however many you feel you need.

    You say they are more organised and then go on to list 3 meetings which sounds like more than I will have so ? First meeting in july was only because thats when our tasting was as they only do 2 tastings a year. Meetings in the final 3 months will be more useful IMO and you are having 3 within the 3 months rather than 1 so I'd say your venue is more organised! ?

    Nuts I didn't have any meetings with them until the final few weeks, though we did keep in touch via an email planner. Our first meeting was our final one! ?
