Mega cheap wedding needed please

LuxuriousGoldHair642, 30 of July of 2016 at 20:23 Posted on Planning 0 2

We have done our notice to get married and assumed a registry office would not cost much but it's looking like we were assuming very wrongly!

We are wanting to get married but apart from our kids do not want anyone else there or even knowing about it.

We need a registry office which is cheap and not in an ugly setting. It needs to fit no more than 8 people west/North Yorkshire way

Dont want to be spending anymore than £120

Anyone any suggestions please and do you know if the registry office would lend us 2 staff as witnesses?

Thanks

What you want doesnt really exist... the cheepest you can marry in england all in is £115, this includes £70 notice and the £45 legal fees only so the legal paper work in an office and 2 adult witness only - nothing else (no rings/vows/guests)

if you want 8 people (and a nice venue on top) your talking about a full wedding just a small one

and although your witness can be anyone the registry office doesnt have people to be witnesses (gretna green I believe might) but some girls on here in the past eloped and used 2 people they found at a bus stop as witnesses if I remember correctly (so if you can convince people to do it you can use anyone over 18)

have you considered a basic legal wedding with no guests then a humanist ceremony with your children?

if you aren't counting the £70 notice then a monday to thursday wedding might be doable for £120... just look around your local registry offices

We got married with just two witnesses and our baby present for £50, but of course it was £70 to give notice too.... it was a big price jump to have more people there... so we did that and then we're having a ring exchange ceremony at our local village hall - cheap to hire, we have a friend being our 'officiant' and get to have something meaningful in front of our other children and friends... depends how pretty your local village hall is and any extras you want :/

There are two very good venues that are cheap and may suit you.

    Brodrick Suite, Leeds Town Hall

    Dewsbury Town Hall

York Register Office may also be suitable. Parking is a pain there but it's got a nice garden.

Oops nearly forgot! Leeds Hindu Temple will marry non-Hindu couples. They charge about £250 (all in) and have their own registrar. You must incorporate the traditional Hindu garland exchange though. The ceremony is in English and Gujerati but the registrar tells you what is happening.
