Men wearing gold chunky bracelets...

Mrs Winkle, 2 May, 2008 at 16:56 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 20

I have just finished interviewing someone. He was OK, but I couldn't take my eyes off the huge chain link gold bracelet he was wearing. A bit like thisone.

I'm really, really not a fan of men in jewellery as a rule, especially not this type. I think it looks <snob> thuggish and common.

What say Hitched? Good interview wear for a bloke?

My BiL and FiL like that sort of jewellery. They would reinforce your view.

Dreadful. Reminds me of the football thugs dressed in burberry and drinking beer round our way.

Was it Mr T you interviewed ?

Like you I think jewellery for men is a case of "less is more". Don't mind a plain ring, wedding or otherwise but not a signet (sp?) ring. They look too much like knuckle dusters to me [:I]

Oh good, I'm not alone then. It kept clanking on the table when he moved - it sounded hollow. ?

When I met Mr FtG he wore a bracelet, necklace and signet ring - not quite as heavy as that one, more like this. [V]

    He doesn't any more.?

    Now that's just cheap & nasty <shudder>

Is he a builder? ? My StepFIL is a builder, and he loves this kind of jewellery, matches up with the gold sovereign rings... nice!

    Acceptable jewellry for chaps:-

    Wedding/Signet/Class-Unit-Lodge rings
    Wristwatch
Symbols of faith/other affiliation around the neck, in a discreet fashion.

Anything else is redolent of hippyism, thuggery or *ahem* a festive nature.

Nope, not a builder, or even a bouncer. He was interviewing for an office-based professional kind of job. Odd.

In my previous job we used to refer to things like that as Star Trek jewellery?. It would wind the owner of said item up but gave us a giggle

I remember an ex boyf showing me his 'sov' that he was given for his 16th birthday. I'm sure his 16th was a scene very similar to that of the Royale Family episode, at Anthony's 18th! ?

I think men wearing chunky gold either a) look like pimps or b) want to look like pimps.

In either case, I don't have much to say to them. ?

I was about to say that a client of mine wears one of those. He is in the security trade and also wears a necklace like thishttp://www.popculturebuzz.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/11/catpower-cd.jpg

Just because you think that and HMRC think that it doesn't mean it's true.?

    Nice necklace! ?

The worst thing is, when I looked for the picture on Argos, the fecking thing costs about £450. You can get a pait of Jimmy Choos for that. Or a Fiat 500.
