Menu choices on website

Karisma, 7 January, 2022 at 21:09 Posted on Feedback to Hitched 3 17
Hi,

Our guests have options to choose what to eat for each course at the wedding breakfast (2 starters, 2 mains and 2 desserts) but I cant only see an option for one meal choice. Is there a way to add meal choices for the other two courses?
Thanks

If I remember correctly, you can do this in the settings from your guestlist page (on desktop not the app). You can add and remove as many as you like.

It still isn't working, the guests only have ability to choose one option, rather than being able to choose three

Oh I think I have found a way, I've changed the names to include all combinations of meals possible. There are 8 choices and could be a little confusing but I think its the best I can do. I think the people who would find it most confusing would probably be the people who RSVP by post or phone call anyways

How did you manage to let your guests choose food, did you create it all under menu or list? Just starting to put this together myself and there is not much guidance from Hitched on how to use!!

We havent had anyone using it yet. But So far The only way I’ve found to do it, is to put all 3 choices as one menu item. E.g Soup, chicken, cheesecake will be one, then Soup, Salmon, Cheesecake, would be the next choice and so on, its a bit long and I don’t really like it but its the only way I have found.
I may forget using the menu option all together and ask guests to put menu choices in the comments box. Or just use another website, I’ve heard that gettingmarried.com has options for all 3 courses

Hello- my fiance and I have had the exact same discussion today! What we've done is given the menu in the confirmation page with the request to put each person's choice in the comments box. Hopefully guests will be able to do that easily enough. I just hope I can track the comments easily too- don't want to be getting confused! I'm not sure where the comments will appear yet- hopefully it'll be in the email to us?

If you go to a guest, there is a note section at the bottom. Any comments appear there.

It also emails you when someone RSVPs and the message will be there.

Hello, This was a challenge to set up - What I have done is split our day into 3 sections and added meal choice to each section. For example

Ceremony - then there is a drop down for starter options

    Reception - Main options

    Evening - Dessert options

It probably isn't the most sophisticated but it works - I will need to collate it all though I think as I cant see there is a function to do this. I have sent my invites out this week so receiving a few RSVPS - seems to be good so far!

Oooh thanks, I will try it your way insteadSmiley smile

I guess any way to do it, won't be straight forward until Hitched change the website to be able to offer more than one option.

Have the exact same problem. The replies are all very helpful though, thank you. Feels like a massive oversight on th UI of hitched though.

It absolutely is! And it’s a big part of the reason I didn’t use their website in the end and used theknot instead. That has its own issues, but hey nothing’s perfect and for me it’s much more usable.

If you search in YouTube for ‘editing menu choices on hitched’ there’s a video tutorial.

Has anybody found a way round this? Perhaps by upgrading - has anybody tried that?

I haven’t actually looked at it again to be honest with you, it was doing my nut in. I’m not sure if upgrading would work or not, I thought that was to get a custom domain and to download your site? I’m sending invitations this week so I will be having another play with it and will let you know if I manage to find out a way of doing it

Hello! I think I've managed to do it! It's not perfect but it's very close! I'll try and explain below, but bear with me Smiley laugh

So instead of using the headings that already exist in the Guest List section, we created our own for most of them. We've used/created:

    Overview
    Ceremony
    (using pre-set one from Hitched)
    Choose your starter (new one)
    Choose your main (new one)
    Choose your dessert (new one)
    Evening do (new one)

    Like so:

    Menu choices on website 1

All guests are submitted in the 'Overview' tab and we've made it super simple by only having two 'buckets' - Couple and Our guests - so when we come to allocate which 'event' a guest needs to be added to (e.g. Day, + food options, or Evening only) it won't be fiddly.

So, to get the right choices to come up for the right tabs, go to a tab (eg. Ceremony, Evening Reception etc) and go to settings. You'll then choose whether to have a menu or not. For Ceremony we only want people to say they're going, so we have turned this off. We will be using this as our base for doing seating chart, so have left this on.

    Menu choices on website 2

Then to get the Day people to choose their food options, we have done the following:

    Menu choices on website 3

We have set the options for the following:
Ceremony - no tracked menu / create seating allocation
Choose your starter (newly created tab) - tracked menu / do not create seating allocation
Choose your main (newly created tab) - tracked menu / do not create seating allocation
Choose your dessert (newly created tab) - tracked menu / do not create seating allocation
Evening do (newly created tab) - no tracked menu / do not create seating allocation

For full day guest, this is what it looks like on the website:

    Menu choices on website 4

The only thing that's not perfect is having to put 'I accept' for each menu option, can't get rid of that, but even if people leave that, it doesn't matter.

And then, it's just a case of adding your guests to the activity you want them to RSVP to, so if they're evening only, they only get that option when they come to the website.

I hope that helps! Happy to clear anything up if that is super confusing! Smiley smile

Hi, I'm sure this was done on the laptop. Menu choices, The only way I could figure out was to split up the day into three and guests had to confirm each section. Ceremony, reception, evening and I liked that to starter, main, dessert. It wasn't the most sophisticated but it worked.

Perfect. I have used your suggestions and am a lot happier with what I had before.

    Thank you
