Menu selections

Lesley, 15 January, 2024 at 14:33 Posted on Feedback to Hitched 1 6

Hi, I might be missing something obvious. Is there a way to turn off the menu selection? My guests will choose their food on the day and I'm unsure how to turn this off.

Hi, there is a track menu check box that can be unselected. It sits in Guestlist > Wedding Breakfast ( or whichever you've added your guests too) then settings.

    Hope that helps

What software/application are you using to manage your ordering? (For example, an online ordering app, a POS system, a custom website, or some other tool?) PolyTrack

You’re not missing anything obvious—this can be a bit confusing. In many systems, menu selection is enabled by default, and turning it off usually depends on the event or form settings you’re using. It’s worth checking whether there’s an option to disable guest choices or switch to a “selection on the day” setup. Similar usability questions and solutions are often discussed on https://techbunch.org/ which might be helpful as well.

That’s a common question, especially when planning events where guests decide on the day. Some platforms don’t clearly separate advance menu selection from on-site choices, so the option can be easy to miss. Checking the event configuration or reaching out to support usually helps clarify what can be disabled. I’ve seen similar event-planning tips and discussions on https://magcorner.co.uk/ which often covers practical setup questions like this.

Turning off menu selection usually depends on how the booking or ordering system is set up. In most cases, switching from pre-selected meals to on-the-day choices requires disabling required menu fields or setting the event type to open ordering, which lets guests decide when they arrive. It can also help to add a short note for guests explaining that food will be chosen at the venue to avoid confusion. Restaurants that manage high walk-in traffic handle this well, and places like ming wo burnley are a good example of how flexible ordering on the day can work smoothly without locking guests into advance selections.
