Micro Wedding Help!

Yvonne, 25 April, 2022 at 19:00 Posted on Planning 0 7

We're keen to have a micro wedding, rather than an elopement. Ideally we'd like to have a brief non-fussy early evening ceremony followed by a nice dinner for around 10-12 people. We'd still like to find a pretty venue for this rather than doing the whole registry office/restaurant thing but I'm a bit lost as to where to start. Most places want it to be a whole big event with a whole day of doing things but we'd like to keep it simple, is this possible?

Have a look on the hitched venue search as you can stipulate small ceremony and maybe find something a bit niche. I am sure what you want is doable and maybe worth seeing if there are any restaurants that have a small private dining room you could hire

It’s definitely possible! Im unsure where you are but I’m in County Durham and there’s quite a few micro-wedding options. One being an evening ceremony in a candlelit treehouse (sounds perfect for what you’re looking for!) we were looking at a micro wedding but did eventually settle on a elopement to Gretna Green.

We're mid Cotswolds but happy to travel around so quite flexible on this one. Out of interest how did you find Gretna, was it good?

Our wedding is October 2023 but I’ve heard nothing but great things about Gretna! And the wedding team are great, they are really flexible and can tailor packages for you. This venue was also a possibility for us as it’s so close by and intimate: https://runa-farm.com/
This venue also does small weddings and is beautifully set next to a field of lavender: https://www.blackhorsebeamish.co.uk/weddings.html
A bonus is that they allow pets, if that’s something important to you! I’m sorry I can’t be of greater help with micro weddings in your area but hopefully this helps a bit!

We are going to Gretna this weekend for our wedding. 4:30 service followed by a three course meal with immediate family only. Hopefully I can feed back next week how it all went etc

I remember coming across this place that does micro weddings! I don’t know what the cost is like as we didn’t enquire but as it’s essentially a house I think you can have the day/evening as desired.

Totally get having a smaller micro wedding!
Were getting married at The Ridgeway Barns Swindon in December with 10 guests.
Weve booked the house for the weekend so we can have a pre wedding meal with our families the night before.https://theridgewaybarns.co.uk/
