Microsoft Word - report writing, using 'Styles'

SillyWrong, 7 November, 2014 at 13:59 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 1

I have seen/used report writing styles in word before that use different levels.

For example:

This Style would be the header

5. this would be the 'First level' style

5.1 this style would be 'Second level'

5.2 this would also be second level

5.2.1 this would be third level

6. and then you go back to first level

7. first level

7.1 second level

7.1.1 third level

7.1.1.1 fourth level

(that was a long and drawn out way to describe it but I'm tired and my descriptive skills are lacking)

I use Styles in word all the time for publications - auto contents pages etc ... but my 'styles' section in Word on my work computer doesn't have the 'Level' option? Help!?

Am I speaking gobbledegook!?

No, it's not gobbledegook, but I started trying to write a helpful reply and realised I'm not sure I can actually help. But I didn't want to leave you hanging...

The only thing I can see is Headings, so maybe use more than one type? Failing that, ask Mr Google.
