Midnight blue/navy and gold wedding colours??!!

busybee29, 24 June, 2009 at 20:58 Posted on Planning 0 4

Hi

Is anyone having these similar colours? Our venue has burgundy carpets and chairs so we originally thought about having that as our colour theme but ive never been that sold on it.

I have been given some stunning flower girl dresses in Ivory with gold on the bodice so i thought about having my daughter in a midnight blue dress with my older brides maid. The men can wear navy suits with ivory and gold cravats and waist coats.

I can then play about with my flowers and have blues and golds and reds etc so it all blends in together at the reception.

The other theme i love is bright blue with the burgundy but not sure if the gold on the dress would look okay , god does that sound bridezilla ?

Any thoughts im rubbish with this sort of thing

    HI

I think navy blue, ivory and gold look really nice together. I was asked last year to make some invites with these colours navy and gold, and when they first said I was a bit a dubious as I had not thought of putting them together before put they did look really nice.

I wasnt sure about blue and burgandy but I have found a picture (it is just a random card) and they look nice as well

I like the ivory, gold and navy the best though

    Yum!

Very rich, very classy, very very lovely. Go for it. You can always have a hint of gold and the blue and ivory the strongest. My colours are actually navy, ivory with silver!

Tee Hee's right - they are wonderful colour combinations and work very well as they are opposites on the colour wheel. They can look elegant and opulent.

You could go for brighter shades of navy/ dark royal blue with orangey/yellow golds or the more muted dusky versions of midnight blue with champagne ivory or pale antique golds.

Ooohhh i like that, i have googled loads and not come up with those pics. The carpet and chairs are the only burgundy you will see and the guy who runs the place offered to get any table cloths and napkins in our choosen colour and this is included in the price. So i think its all going to look fine.

I did think of blue ivory and silver but then we were given those lovely dresses and my engagement ring and wedding band are yellow gold too.

Teehee can i ask what flowers you are going for?

    Thanks ladies

Ivory vndella roses and plain ole peonies. No Blues at all I'm afraid. Keeping them very very simple.
