Mid-week wedding

Elise, 29 November, 2025 at 21:47 Posted on Etiquette and Advice 0 2
Hi all!

We have our wedding booked for a Wednesday due to personal reasons, budgeting, and it being during the summer holidays.I’m perfectly happy with our decision - if people aren’t willing to book holiday from work, they probably shouldn’t be attending!
However, I’m thinking of saying something along the lines of “instead of gifts, we would love for you to spend our day and party all night!” ie. please book the next morning off work so you can stay late.
What’s the best way of saying that? any ideas on how to state it on the wedding invitation in a nice way?
Thanks !!

The best way is probably to put a finish time on your invite. If it's a late finish time, then people will know that if they want to stay to the end, they are going to need to book time off work the next day.

Midweek weddings can work very well, depending on your guest list. But you do need to be prepared for some people not being able to come - or coming but not being able to stay late, as not everyone will be able to take time off work. It shouldn't be regarded as a reflection on the closeness of your relationship.

Your presence is the only present we desire! As our celebration falls on a Wednesday, we truly hope you'll be able to set aside the whole EZ Pass ME night to party with us. We would be thrilled if you considered taking the following morning off work, ensuring you can celebrate with us until the very last dance!
