Mini moon suggestions in the UK

Mrs*W*2B, 27 June, 2013 at 13:41 Posted on Planning 0 12

Hello!

we are looking for a UK mini moon for a short break (mon-fri) in August.

We don't want to venture further than 3 hours from Manchester and ideally don't want to pay more than £500/£600 for a self catering private cottage/cabin etc.

We don't really want a hotel, we ideally like the look of these private cottages with BBQ space/hot tub etc.

Any suggestions welcome Smiley smile

Lake district would be perfect! There's a lot on holiday lettings, and they're pretty reasonable. We stayed in a log cabin on a lake, no hot tub but gym and spa and that on site.

Hoseasons have some woodland lodges with private hot tubs etc and will do short breaks. But if you're looking for some romantic seclusion then make sure you select 'lodges' or 'cottages' rather than holiday parks as during August the latter will be more geared towards family fun.

Fynn Valley Holidays in Suffolk! It's where we're going, looks absolutely perfect for a mini-moon and the Tripadvisor reviews are exceptional!

There are LOADS in the Lakes/Peak District, or in North Wales, all of which should be Smiley heart hours from Manchester.

Fark me, I live in Manchester and my three hour boundary covers (clockwise from North): long past Carlisle into Scotland, north of Newcastle, Skegness, Kings Lynn, Luton, Oxford, Bristol, Aberystwyth, Holyhead. Massive area to choose from!

But I'd be looking in the Lakes. Lovely!

You can get to King's Lynn in 3 hours from Manchester? Respect. It used to take me an hour just from Cambridge.

Though it's not on my list of minimoon destinations.

You could hire a boat on the Lake District. - that way it can always be private and secluded. Just move the boat!

Have you been to the Isle of Man? You can fly in about half an hour from Manchester (or get the ferry from Heysham or Liverpool) and there's lots to do here if you like the outdoors, history, walking etc. Don't know of any cottages with a hot tub but there are lots of country cottages, stay on a farm etc.

How about Cleveley Mere just south of Lancaster. You can even stop in a Treehouse Lodge by the lake. Looks great!
