Mirror plate alternatives?

FutureMrsWilson, 9 May, 2011 at 15:42 Posted on Planning 0 9

Has anyone seen a nice wooden alternative to mirror plates? We're having a beach theme and want something a bit more natural than mirror to stand our centrepieces on. Ideas?

    Log slices?

    These are fakes - /autumn -

No prices but real ones are listed here: http://www.tree-felling.co.uk/wood_carvings.htm

You may want the thinner types like those used on 'rustic' home name signs - if that's any help?

I like the chopping board suggestion...

to throw a cat amongst the pigeons- why have any centrepeice plate at all? I always thought the reason for mirror ones is to reflect the light particularly if you have candles. If you don't want to do this with a mirror then maybe you don't need anything?

    What centrepeices are you having?

We're having clear storm lantern vases with sand, shells and a LED pillar candle in the middle. Wanted flat/carved driftwood plates to stand them on, but quoted something really out of our budget. (Our theme is beach/seaside if you didn't guess.)

Totally irrelevant, but this is one of my favourite sayings. Just a brilliant mental image!

I am sure that something wooden to stand them on would look nice, but if I were you I wouldn't do that. I would collect driftwood (off the beach/riverbed if you or someone you know lives next to the beach or a river) and arrange that around the lantern. I would also throw in some jute twine as I think this looks beachy... don't know how I think it depends on the arrangement.

That's just my opinion and what you are doing sounds nice too. I just thought I would offer an alternative (cheap too).
