Misheard song lyrics

kharv, 28 February, 2013 at 09:25 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 74

I was sure there's been thread on this recently but either I made it up or I can't find it.

I thought of one from when I was a young 'un.

When I was about 6 years old I had Michael Jackson's Bad album on cassette that I used to listen to on my walkman.

One day my mam had to ask which song I was singing along to as she'd never heard the lyrics 'Do you want a piece of gateaux?' before.

It was Dirty Diana.

    Haha!!

My mind has drawn a blank but I am sure I have had some equally funny lyric fails.

The classic song "I still haven't found what I'm looking for" I would sing "these silly walls" not city ? H was not impressed as a die hard U2 fan.

I am the biggest culprit of this but my mind is blank at the moment.

There were 2 versions of this song, Sting did one I think, but I always thought 'Jamaican in New York' was 'I'm a John Major in New York'.

Can't think of any misheard song lyrics, but I thought that Elvis sang 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' and 'Lonely This Christmas' even though the other members of Queen quite clearly say 'Ready Freddie' in CLTCL.

    Lady Gaga - Poker face

    I thought she was singing

'He'll be back, he'll be back, no he can't read a map...'

seriously, when you listen to it, you'll hear it too...maybe....

& Nicki Minaj (I think is the artist) Pound the alarm...I thought was Sound the alarm. Until my step daughter told me otherwise!

I don't have one personally that I can think of, but have you seen the you tube clip of the woman singing Mariah Carey, without you?

    Hilarious.

I think I mishear lyrics more than get them right!! This also included once arguing over lyrics with the artist who actually WROTE the lyric ?

The most recent one is a Rhianna song, I'm not even sure what the correct lyrics are , or the name of the song but it goes like this:

"I'm gonna love you, like a hot pie"

H though the Spiderman theme had the line "he has eyes" in it until quite recently!

    I just remembered a couple.

As a child my parents used to play their Boney M records and I used to think 'by the rivers of Babylon' was 'by the rivers of Barbie doll'

More recently Lady Gaga's 'Just dance' at the beginning she sings 'red one, laaaady gagaaaaa' but I thought it was 'Red wine, Laaaady Gagaaaaa'

    Balls in a heat wave!

I always thought, and still sing, 'Balls in a heat wave' for Wiley's 'Causing a heatwave'

Makes me smile to sing about a pair of really hot balls in a heatwave. It makes me glad I don't have balls. Oh and I use the term 'sing' loosely. Squark may be more apt.

    From Macy Gray's "I try"

"I wore goggles when you are not here" (my world crumbles when you are not here) --> you are not going to be able to unhear that now.

In Dirty Diana there is a part where he just sings "Diana! Diana! Dirty Diana!" and to be it sounds like "Nigella! Nigella!" Again, you are not going to be able to unhear it now.

P said that when he was 12, so when his English wasn't as good as it is now, he used to hear the song "Yesterday" as "yes today". I think that's quite sweet ?

I'm sure I've told you al this one of mine before (and bear in mind I know ZILCH about football).

In Three Lions" I thought "30 years of hurt" was about a useless manager (perhaps)... and heard "Bertie is a berk"
