When we went to see our Vicar he mentioned Morning has broken, then said "oh, but your wedding is at 3:00 so you won't want that". So I would have said weddingy hymn. We're having Praise my soul & Amazing Grace.

Everyone always knows the words to Morning Has Broken, so you'll get everyone singing.

I don't think it matters with regards to wedding v's funeral. If you like it, then have it!

I think it would be fine for a wedding, I wouldn't particularly associate it with a funeral. I also don't think it is any slower than quite a few other hymns. One of ours is All things bright and beautiful which is pretty slow too. Lord of the Dance is a faster one, we are having that as our last hymn, to end on a bright cheery note. Other one is Amazing Grace which is also very well known - personally not too keen on it but OH chose it.

Our Best Man had it at his wedding and I've never song it at a funeral so I'll go wedding!

I love morning has broken and wanted it but OH said no. :-(

And as for funeral v weddings, doesn't matter. We are having Jerusalem which was played at my Grandads funeral (sounds a bit wrong, but we wanted it as it means something to our family)

'morning has broken is ideal for a wedding.....familiar, good words and excellent tune.

I love praise my soul....but can be a bit durgy in that it is quite slow.

My partner is playing all things bright and beautiful for a ceremony tomorrow. We've found a beautiful piano version......but its much too slow. The advantage to booking a DJ to provide your ceremony music is that he has the facility to speed it up slightly ....and alter it during singing to keep in time with everyone (which is what he'll do with all things bright and beautiful)

We sang that at my dad's funeral, so obviously not a wedding song to me.

Praise my soul has two instrumentals... at my grans funeral mum asked for the upbeat version and they played the dirgeful version....so i've promised her it will be the upbeat one..... ive never thought it to be slow.

sorry mariets, dont wanna drudge up memories.
