My mum got her MOG outfit (for my brothers wedding) and is planning to get MOB outfit from Nigel Rayment. They have boutiques in Manchester and London and have LOADS of styles in every size to try on. We went to Manchester boutique and the service was fantastic, the sales lady even gave my mum a big hug when she picked her dress and told her she looked gorgeous. Don't know where you are based, but people seem to really travel to visit the store, when we were in there were 2 ladies from Edinburgh and 1 from Birmingham. OH's mum is also planning to come up from Nottingham to buy her outfit from here as well.

They are a bit pricey though, and I dont know what your budget is - other places I would look would be John Lewis, Debenhams, BHS, Whistles, Phase 8. A lot of larger bridal stores have a MOB section as well.

    Good luck finding something!

My mum keeps talking about Jaeger and Jacques Vert - They are both good with sizes and they stock the full outfit in their stores too - i.e bag, hat/fascinator & shoes.

My mum and mother of the groom both got theirs from Jacques Vert (well my mum's is from Minuet Petite but is part of the Jacques Vert brand). They have some lovely occasion wear and they both got dresses, jackets, fascinators and bags to match. The only thing I found JV weren't very good at was shoes as they were all really narrow fitting.

In addition to the suggestions above, you could try Phase Eight, LK Bennett, East or Monsoon on the high street, which often have MOB style outfits.

Jaque Vert always good (they are the same company as Phase 8 who are great to). My H2B mother just got her dress at Hobbs which I was a bit surprised at (she is 80) but its lovely. The department stores like House of Fraser and John Lewis are a good start cos they have the concessions in them. How about Coast, Jaegar, or even bridal shops lots of them do mother of the bride outifits. My cousin got hers from the same shop her daughter bought her wedding dress from.

My mum got hers from Hobbs. She found Jacques Vert a little dated for her and Phase Eight's fit a bit odd. John Lewis is a good one to check out.

My Mum is disabled and can't really go to shops, so we did hers all online. It was a cross between EBay, Littlewoods and Simply Be. I never thought to look at High Street shops because of her size. I wish I had! Ah well, she has a lovely outfit now that is totally her.

I also used Nigel Rayment and found they were great, if you do decide that is where you would like to go (which I would strongly suggest you do) be sure to take a look at the John Charles mother of the bride outfits they have. They really are some of the loveliest outfits I've ever seen and I'm sure you would agree with me when you see them. (P.s. the link goes to the John Charles website but its really easy to find their collection on Nigel Rayment)

I don't think my mum has bought hers yet but she has been looking at a few of the designers at Debenhams ranges. Even though she is 62 she has quite a young style and many traditional MOB outfitters seem quite old-fashioned to me.

My mum got hers online at jjs I think it's called. It's an American company I think but they tailor made it to her size and the quality is really really good especially for the prices. I'm considering getting my bridesmaid dresses from there if the girls can agree on one!
