Moving home!

Sophie, 5 September, 2023 at 10:19 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 5
Hi
I am looking to move home within the next couple of months. My wedding is 9th March 2024. Myself and my partner are due to give notice on 30th October.

1. Is there a rule with not be allowed to move house before your wedding?2. Would I need to re do my notice appointment with a new address?
Thank you

During your meeting with the registrar directly before your ceremony, you will be asked to confirm that no details have changed since your notice appointment. So if you have moved then you can tell them at that point and they will ensure your certificate is updated.

It’s perfectly fine to move before your wedding. The registrar will just confirm your details again at the pre-ceremony meeting, so as long as you update them if your address has changed, you’ll be fine. I went through something similar last year when we moved two months before our big day, and it didn’t cause any issues at all with the notice we had already given.

Since moving during such a busy time can be stressful, I’d recommend planning ahead for the actual move so you’re not overwhelmed right before the wedding. We used Cheap Movers Singapore, and it made things much smoother because they handled the packing and transport quickly, which freed us up to focus on wedding prep. Most councils only need correct personal details, so an address change usually isn’t a problem unless their guidelines require a fresh notice, which the registrar can confirm. Couples who move close to the wedding date often focus on keeping their documents, IDs and venue paperwork secure so nothing gets misplaced in the transition. Staying organized becomes easier once you gather packing supplies near me because having the right boxes and labels keeps everything in order and reduces stress during a tight timeline.
