M&S wedding cakes!

sara.jo, 28 April, 2011 at 14:27 Posted on Planning 0 31

If like me, you do not want to spend LOADS on a wedding cake, M&S is a good stop! I have just ordered ours...delivery to a shop right near me 3 days before the date. I went to pay for three tiers and it was 3 for 2! I got 3 tiers for £93!! So I ordered another tier - I have a four tier white fruit cake for £103 and I have ordered extra fresh roses to put inbetween the tiers.......Just thought I would share! Tick!

I'm having cup cakes for my wedding cake but I'm thinking about getting a small sponge cake from M&S for my top tier.

I'm going to have a look now!

They are not very deep, only 2 inches.

I had mine on a three tiered staggered cake stand and they looked fin (will dig out a photo later!)

If they are stacked then they can look a little small.

My sister had these cakes and they were delicious...I think we'll go for that too. I can't justify spending anymore money than that on something that ends up getting left! LOL

I'm having an M&S cake but having the dearer one......i'm having the romantic pearl cake, its £200 for 3 tiers, i'm hoping its a little deeper than the traditional one but i think they are all a bargain, well worth the money.

I was going to go for an M and S cake as i couldn't justify the price. But i was a little worried about the depth of them. I am now having one made by a lovely lady who is making us a 4 tier square cake for less than a 3 tier M and S cake!!!! Although i have not personally tasted her cakes yet (my friend who recommended her has), for the price i am not too worried. She is in the Essex/London area if anyone needs a cake lady.

We haven't decided where we'll get our cake from yet, but certainly don't have a big budget for it. We're just going to get a plain one as my best friend has said she will decorate it for us (she's done a couple of decorating courses.) Someone at work had a Tesco's "celebration fruit cake" for their wedding cake! I didn't go to the wedding but apparently it was three tiers and they brought me piece in to work and it tasted OK actually! x

Wish you had said this earlier!!! I couldn't find a local cake maker to do a three-tier sponge, plain iced for less than £90!

This is the classic cake from M&S... medium, large and extra large... ribbon was an inch thick... possibly should have been thinner to make the cake look bigger?

M&S and Tesco were what I was thinking of, but the cakes on Tesco appear to have disappeared today - eek!

Can anyone let me know if they reappear? xx

I don't think the offer is advertised on the website, but if you add 3 tiers to basket you'll get one taken off.

This is our M+S pearl wedding cake, fruit, sponge and chocolate tiers, all three absolutely delicious! I added the green ribbon and cake topper myself, the white ribbon was already on there. I'd say it's 15mm, my green ribbon was 10mm.

If you place the cakes in the basket it takes off the price of the lowest prices cake at the end0 gutted as I am now planning to get a 3tier sponge cake from M&S but the latest delivery available right now is 28th july which is a bit too early for my 20th Aug wedding0 damn!

The 3 for 2 isn't advertised..it just came off when I went to checkout to pay..I bought four tiers and the smallest was only £10 so I sneakily took the small one off and paid for the three saving £22 instead of just £10. Then bought the small one seperately... Go me!!

I really wanted a plain cake so I could decorate it myself and thought M&S would be ideal. We really wanted a stacked cake but with them only being 2 inches deep, 6 inches is probably going to be a bit small?

Unless I can stack them on their boards and use ribbon to hide the boards? Any one else treied this or have any other ideas pls?

I was going to get an M&S cake too as there was no way we could afford to pay £250+++ for a cake. Found a lady who's doing us a 4 tier for £155 (whatever flavour we like). 3 tier is a bit less. I just though by the time I've managed to find an M&S or Tesco store who stock all of the different sizes in sponge and arrange for it to be decorated etc. we may just as well have one made. She's in the Warwickshire/Redditch are if anyone's looking for someone around here.
