Jennifer, 11 September, 2021 at 16:28 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hi all

Is anyone planning on having any music live or otherwise played during your wedding breakfast? Someone told me recently this was the best part of their wedding! TIA x

At my sister in law’s wedding last month, they had music (not live) playing during the meal. It was a little too loud, in my opinion, and made conversation difficult between me and the people next to me. It’s made me reconsider whether I want music on during our meal, as the general noise of all the other people wouldn’t have been too much, but adding music to it was...

Our band will play in between courses. I’ve been to two weddings where this has been done and it’s been fantastic for the atmosphere, as it really gets the party going. There wasn’t any live music during the actual food though, so people could still talk

Yeah we will be having music and an MC! Doesn’t hurt to have them available! I’ve been to a wedding recently where this was done and it was fantastic! Kept the atmosphere lively!

We are having a string quartet playing ceremony and wedding breakfast. I went to a wedding where there was no background music and it seemed a bit dead till the alcohol started flowing in the evening.

Yes definitely have some background music playing. The key word is "background" especially during the actual eating, string instruments acoustic are ideal if you want live performance. Otherwise I find most wedding venues will have some form of "piped music" (not bagpipes Smiley tongue )

We had background music , I created a playlist then a singing waiter when the puddings were being served. He was amazing and it was a great surprise for my husband and our guests. Everyone was up dancing and singing

We are having background music playing during our wedding breakfast. We are getting Married at 2pm, so by the time we have had our canapes, photos, a good chat with all our guests, eaten our wedding breakfast and done the speeches etc, it wont be long before our DJ arrives for our evening do. X

We will be having a Live Singer during our Wedding Breakfast. We think it will be great to build-up the atmosphere and get everyone up dancing straightaway

Having atmospheric sounds waft through the room during a meal is a wonderful idea but take not of the other comments here - careful with the volume, speaker positions and choice of tunes - classic strings and quartets are popular - but a talented pianist could be fantastic. Just beware of the "uncle" that request them to hammer out Roll Out The Barrel.

Actually just for fits and giggles I took a look over here at these musicians and spotted a TROMBONIST FOR HIRE - WOW- now that would make a memorable meal

I can honestly say if you are looking for your day to be a full blown party and full of laughter you should 100% have a band during your wedding breakfast, My sister had the most amazing band roaming the room, they got everyone out of their seats and the whole room got involved with all of the singalongs, it was brilliant! Ive booked the very same thing and I cannot wait.
