My Dress is going Rusty before the wedding, PLEASE HELP

LuxuriousPinkDecor608, 15 June, 2016 at 16:15 Posted on Planning 0 5

hi Ladies,

I have a brand 'new' DREAM wedding dress in which I have collected last month from the shop. My wedding was going to be in 2 weeks but we had to postpone it to September. I've noticed that the beads stitched on the corset are now going rusty and I don't know what to do! I fear it will spread and stain the dress with yellow marks. I have tried calling the dress shop but they said once the dress is out of the shop there is nothing they can do. They were very rude since I have paid so much for it, I expected at least some advice.

Is there anyway to prevent it from getting worst? Or should I just take it somewhere to get them replaced??
I was so happy with this dress but now I see the quality is not worth the price I paid and I am so frustrated! I really invested a lot of money for the 'perfect' Dress. I don't want it to become the 'worst memory' from the wedding.

I've googled a few ideas but I'm scared some of suggestions may have a reverse effect and make it worst! ????

Like I've said I know this isn't the right group, and if any brides know any group for bridal advices that I could ask the same Q, would be great!

Thank you ladies! ????

I think it's disgusting that having paid so much they want even after any advise even if it is without accepting responsibility. They must have the same issue if stored in the shop. Maybe speak to a dry cleaner? How much bearing is there. Can you remove the beading and have a seamstress redo it nearer the time r remove it and replace with something else later?

    Who is the designer?

I personally would not drop this with the dress shop. Did they give you clear instructions on storage? If they did, and you have followed said instructions, then this is a fault with the dress. If they didn't give you advice, then I'd really be kicking off at them. Bad press goes a long long way in this business so I think if you kick up enough of a fuss, they might relent so that you don't badmouth them online.

If you know the designer, you could contact their customer care team and ask their advice/complain?

As above, go back to the shop.

Your contract of sale was with the dress shop, therefore they should be the ones sorting it for you (Assuming we treat the dress as any other product, like a washing machine, phone or car). Unless they can prove that they have provided you with instructions on how to store it for 6 weeks that were not followed, then I would expect that they should be going back to the designer on your behalf. I'd have thought that the shop would do so willingly as it's their reputation at the end of the day (as I think Stephi said above), that's being negatively affected by this supplier! If you really have no joy, and as time is of the essence, I would perhaps also contact the designer yourself and see which gets you a result first...

Sorry you've had to postpone your wedding, I hope it wasn't for any bad circumstances. But at least you now have a few more weeks to get this sorted!

    Good luck!

Did you pay by credit card or Visa debit?

My first port of call would be the dress shop - your contract is with them, they are required by law to provide goods of satisfactory quality. Failing that, if you've paid by credit card or Visa debit, I would take it up with the card provider - they will go after the shop and have more clout than you.

I think you probably want to give some thought to what you want - in your position, I would want a new dress provided toot sweet, but you may be happy with a different outcome.

I agree with what others have said. I would definitely be going back to the shop as that simply isn't good enough. Wedding dresses are so expensive and you don't expect that kind of thing to happen. How upsetting for you. Hope you manage to get it sorted xx

    I agree with SunnyPinkConfetti310.

Unless the store gave you special instructions on how to store the dress and you've failed to follow those instructions, it sounds to me that the dress is faulty. A wedding dress and/or beading should not go "rusty" after a month. It shouldn't go "rusty" after 6 months either.

The store cannot fob you off and tell you that "once the dress it out the shop there is nothing they can do." This is a violation of the law if the dress if faulty. They need to either repair, replace or refund (partially or fully) the dress.

If they fob you off, you can either take them to court or see if there is any recourse via your credit card.

If the dress was expensive, I would not "repair" it myself in case I ended up damaging it further.
