Ive been so stressed out recently and havnt had a decent nights sleep in weeks. i was given zolpidem sleeping pills from the doc and they are rubbish, im still awake all night, my h2b took one and was out cold within 5 mins. why dont they have that effect on me? im so tired and just want a decent nights sleep. ive tried hot milk, infact everything i can think of and nothing is helping me to sleep.

any sleep inducing suggestions welcome.

My Dr told me about a few pretty simple and obvious things that you can do that should help you relax into a good nights sleep

clear out your bedroom, make it a simple, relaxing and clean space with no clutter

don't nap in the day, no matter how tired you feel

don't go to bed until you really do feel tired and ready for it, going to bed and trying to force yourself to relax can make you more irritable and fidigty - if you want to read for a bit do it before you go to bed

    have a warm bath

have a warm milky drink just before bed

don't work from home in the evening, or do anything to 'cerebral' that is likely to wind you up or get your mind racing

learn a few relaxation techniques, whatever works for you, breathing exercises, meditation, yoga, etc

    exercise regularly

I hope you get a good nights sleep soon

Also avoid all stimulants throughout the day - coffee, tea, cola, alcohol, smoking, etc

I know how difficult it is to give up, but it really will make a difference

if you're really struggling to sleep on a day to day basis then it's going to be a combination of lifestyle changes that make a real difference, not a quick fix of sleeping pills or anything else

not sleeping well is crap, I really do hope you work out someting that helps soon

Cut down on the cigs and coffee

buy some lavender bubble bath and linen spray which you can spray on your pilow

get a good book and some hotchocolate

if all that doesn't work i dunno what will

good luck its awful not being able to sleep

I have insomnia too - have had it for months. My problem isn't dropping off - it's waking a couple of hours later and not being able to turn my racing brain off.

I've had a bit of a stressful night tonight so GOK how much sleep I'll get.

    I sympathise ?
