Naturists

POD, 4 June, 2008 at 19:56 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 42

Is anybody here a naturist?

I was just watching something about naturists gardening and was thinking it's all a bit bizarre.I fnd it hard to believe that they don't oggle each other (although some were definitely not oggly worth)

I think one of my colleagues may be but I'd be afraid to ask him about it.

If somebody is one could they explain the attraction (I know they say it's about being as nature intended).

I wonder at what point you become one? do you have to belong to some kind of network, or go to naturist beaches or camps? Apparently a friends parents are but I've only ever seen then clothed (at her wedding and her daughters christeing ?)

MrH likes to be naked, I wonder if wandering round the house naked makes you one?

I can't believe I am actually going to google this to find out ?

Naturism or nudism is a cultural and political movement advocating and defending social nudity in private and in public. It may also be a lifestyle based on personal, family and/or social nudism

The usage and definition of these terms varies geographically and historically.? Though in the United States, naturism and nudism have very similar meanings,[7] in Britain there is a clear distinction.??[9] Nudism is the act of being naked, while naturism is a lifestyle which at various times embraced nature, environment, respect for others, self-respect, crafts, healthy eating, vegetarianism, teetotalism, non-smoking, yoga, physical exercise and pacifism as well as nudity.[10]

    Ok then, not MrH ?

I'm not a naturist but a former boss of mine and her husband were semi-naturist in that they were in the habit of wandering around their secluded house and garden in the nude (delivery men sometimes got more than they bargained for). She said she found it very liberating not to have to think about clothes. They hadn't got as far as public naturism though, so I don't know about the ogling. I think you'd take a look just like people glance at others' bodies in changing rooms etc but I'm not sure ogling comes into it. I think a woman would probably look more at other females to compare droopy boobs and cellulite. ?

    ? wangers and wangettes.

Hyacinth, I wonder if you're right about it starting at home (that's a worrying thought) but how do you get from wandering around your own house in the nudey to having to carry a towel to avoid sitting on other people's secretions?

    I'm a closet naturist.

I feel so much more comfortable without clothes on, and I'm often naked at home (obviously I don't intentionally stand by windows flashing, although there was an embarrassing incident once where I was walking through the hallway past the open glazed door and realised the postman was stood there?)

However I'm not a naturist in the true sense of the word because there's no way I would allow myself to subject the sight of my overweight, flabby body to anyone else (postman excluded)

I would also be like a schoolgirl gawping at all the cocks.Even now, I have a slight obsession with Penises (Peni?) which I think stems from my uptight parents and my late first viewing of one.

Well one definte advantage is the lack of clothes washing you would need to do. There are camps around for holidays. Just imagine coming back from holiday and not having a suitcase full of clothes to wash.

again, wiki (the only site I am not banned from when I type naturist into google ?) it says there are health benefits from sleeping nakid (which I nearly always do, I feel really clausterphobic with nightclothes on)

i'm happy to walk around the house naked (as does my mum) but usually for practical reasons like being in the process of dressing (many of my friends have witnessed my mother, starkers and ironing her knickers) but wouldn't go into overlooked areas or my garden.

Sorry Hyacinth I responded before I saw your definitions. Definitely neither MrPod nor I fit into the naturist category. Having said that I don't wander around naked much although MrPod can sometimes been seen au natual My Mum used to always say never to wear knickers in bed to let 'things' breath so I guess the health thing is right.

I relieved I can tick naturist tendencies off my list of things about MrPod to worry about

Vicsteroooo can't believe your colleague showed you a picture which his wanger on display. Why?? Do you think he did it on purpose?

? Did she realise those photos were in there? Was she expecting a critique? Or perhaps an expression of envy? ?

Can I just clarify that I am not a slug, secretions were what I (may have misunderstood) the purpose of the towel was - this runs the risk of starting another conversation about the frequency towels must be washed.

Vicsteroooo, you have some v. interesting friends.

I think I'm starting to regret asking about this

My parents are and have been since I was small, it ruined my teenage years as my mother thought nothing of wandering around at home naked, (her home, her way)

I am still red thinking about it?, we haven't spoke for over 16 years but I hear from family they are still hanging low, well probably lower seeing they're both over 60 now?

Based on that, if it wasn't for the teetotal thing I am almost a naturist....at night in my own home anyway ?.

I did go to a naturist beach once - H took me there when we had only been together 3 weeks to test his theory about British women being uptight! (not a special trip.... we were biking past it anyway). what really amused me was all the guys wearing sunhats and t-shirts to protect themselves from the sun, but with their dangly bits hanging out the bottom. Couldn't understand why they would want to risk sunburn down there!

Titchbunny I can relate to that....Lanzarote me aged 11 my parents discover the wonder of the half and half beaches where you can wear anything, if you were fat and saggy this seemed to mean only a hat.... you then had to play bat and ball.... ruined my holiday!!

Since then we have often had to draw trunks on my dad before showing the holiday snaps.... although? thankfully my mother went off the whole idea after she burnt her backside one holiday!!!

The 1st time my BIL met my dad he (my dad) was nekkid my now BIL apparently looked him in the eye and shook his hand?

Veering slightly from the naturist aspect, but a couple of replies on here have got me thinking.

Is there a particular age that children reach where it is not OK for them to see you naked? Mine see me now and for the past 2 years my H has been saying it's wrong and I should always wear clothes, but it's ok for them to see him naked as they are both boys.

I just thought he was uptight, but am I wrong?

well, I've never really seen my Dad nakid. He has three daughters thought and I know for a fact he doesn't feel comfortable with it. He stopped us "climbing" all over him when we were about 10 I think, and really stepped back. weirdly he also stopped kissing me on the lips when I was a teenager although we do it now (maybe I stopped it? can't remember)

Mr JK and I aren't generally in a hurry to get dressed in the mornings and sleep in the buff. Our children (3 and 5) see us naked a lot, and I think that's a good thing.

I remember seeing my folks naked all the time, and as a result I'm quite comfortable being naked myself. MrRache and I live in quite a secluded house so we're often naked at home. I'll admit to being quite attracted to naturism; if MrRache was up for it I'd try it. My only worries would be enforced volleyball, and whether there's something vaguely odd about the naturist movement as a whole. I can't think what; something to do with the fact that I've never seen pictures of non-white naturists - and all that eco-friendly, let's all do crafts, Steiner-Waldorf anthroposophy cult-y sort of stuff.

I'm thinking of starting a "I Hitch in the nude" group if you'd like to join? Obviously this means I will never allow myself to meet any real life Hitchers.

My parents were and still are naturists, my older brother and I were quite happy to strip off up until the age of 11 when we became too self

conscious to do it anymore. I definately wouldn't do it now I have to say.

The nude beach here in Vancouver causes a lot of surprise as it's just around the corner from the not-nude beaches. I was once walking through the woods near ther when I met a very attreactive, circumsized young man hiking as I was. All I could say was, "What a nice day!" <laugh>

My parents were somestimes naked and never self-conscious at home, and I am never self-conscious naked in my home. Unless strangers knock. Then I am.

? If you know he was circumsised then you clearly weren't maintaining eye contact.
