Ali_G, 10 July, 2014 at 11:05 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 19

My bestie is moving into her own place on Saturday, and I want to put together a hamper of useful food stuff so I need ideas!

Any suggestions?

Staples as in basics, not small metal fasteners!!

E.g. rice, pasta, sugar, teabags, coffee, salt, vinegar, flour, sauces, herbs, spices etc...

Then a couple of luxuries - bottle of prosecco, cupcakes, chocolates

Torch, Sewing Kit, Batteries, Sellotape, Picture hanging Kit, Small tool kit (screwdrivers, hammer and tapemeasures). Dettol wipes, useful for wiping surfaces before moving her stuff in? New nice keyring? Handwash

What a lovely idea!! I'd love to receive something like that when we move!!

Wine, munchies, relaxation things such as a nice bubble bath, a nice scented Yankee candle (in fact, I think they do a "new home" one)

Stuff for a cuppa (tea/coffee/sugar/milk), biscuits, toilet roll, washing up liquid (for when she gets all the plates out of newspaper!) and a selection of takeaway menus!

BOG ROLL! Washing up liquid, sponges, bin bags, toothpaste, incense sticks - OK that isn't food, but hey!

Like the others said, daily essentials, but there is no harm in throwing a couple of quick and easy frozen meals, as she may be knackered after all of that unpacking. A bottle of fizzy won't go amiss either :p

Maybe a bunch of flowers to brighten the place up?

Some fab ideas here! I would definitely go for things she'll need before unpacking, tea, coffee milk, loo roll! Love the take away menu idea plus some fizz and a nice new home gift. Oh and bin bags and bleech. You never know what state the last people will leave the house in!!

    Thanks everyone.

She's moving into a brand spanking new house, so wont need to do any cleaning. Also, it's her first house so plates etc are all brand new.

I've put pasta, milk, sugar, tea, coffee, soap, wipes, biscuits, chocolate, chopped tomatoes, rice, and some Pop Tarts because it's all her bloke eats haha.

I couldn't fit anything else in the hamper!!!
