Newly engaged

Leanne, 6 June, 2021 at 21:01 Posted on Planning 0 4
Newly engaged ❤️ So don't even no where to start. This is all new to me ☺️ So any advice will do. We've been engaged for about 7 days and weve only spoken about the date we have chosen what is 22nd of April 2023. I've just done the venue well hitch has I've emailed 4 places, that's it. Does anyone have a WhatsApp group or anything to share ideas? Write some notes? Thank you for reading and I'm sorry to have bothered you all.

    Congratulations!! 🥂🥂 how exciting.
So first thing to do it celebrate 😂 then have a look at venues and find one you like. Have a think about what type of wedding you want (outside/church/boho/traditional etc)
Once you’ve narrowed down venues, go have a look at them and see what they offer. Once you’ve chosen a venue, you will then need to book the registrar and make sure the date is available with them too.
Once you’ve booked those bits you can then shop for dresses/suits and all the other bits and plan your perfect day

Congratulations! My advice is to take some time to enjoy being engaged, you've got plenty of time to plan with the date you have picked. My OH and I got engaged in November 2020 and didn't really start planning until after Christmas and we're getting married this October! I don't recommend leaving it that late though! We didn't have a date in mind at first and wanted to discuss priorities (marriage first or kids first) before we set the date, which we didn't fully confirm until we had booked the venue as with the short notice and rescheduled weddings venues are quite busy this year.

I would advise that you think about where you want to get married (geographically speaking) and then look at what venues are there to see which style most appeals to you. Looking at the real wedding pages helps. This is your day so take your time thinking about what you and your OH want from the wedding and pick a venue that suits you both. The hitched check list has been really helpful for me but don't feel like you have to have everything on the list (wedding planner, rehearsal dinner, wedshoots app for example), you can delete the items that aren't relevant to your wedding.

We are in the same boat.

Im blasting all the venues for civil wedding etc and my gf who is in charge of the hindu ceremony is playing it very cool despite nagging me for a ring for the last five years.
Iv found sone venues arent doing any viewings at the minute.
You need a venue booked before talking to registrar and if getting wed outside your local authority, if i understand right, you hsve to inform your local authority and the local authority where you're getting wed.
Iv learnt that barns are money making heavens as are tents
Im guaranteed to get some sort of mustardy chicken dish.
    Still learning by the hour

Congratulations! I would definitely set some time aside to just be in your newly engaged bubble. My OH banned me from anything wedding related for two weeks after we got engaged 😂 I’m actually glad he did though as you will have two years of constant wedding planning so it’s nice to just enjoy each other and be spoilt by your friends and family x
