Nigella chocolate orange cake - Help

poochanna, 14 March, 2009 at 15:35 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 11

I am making this for the first time and just noticed that butter isn't mentioned in the ingredient list but is in the recipe. Anyone made it and know which is the typo? If I need butter any idea how much?

I've googled and can't find this one on her website and the only other recipe I have found is without the butter so wanted to check.

Thanks!

    Fabulous thanks! ?

I only managed to find the Daily Mail version and that only listed the same recipe as the book.

Is it her storecupboard cake, with marmalade in? If so, this is the identical recipe: https://www.nigella.com/recipe/recipe_detail.aspx?rid=224 except substitute mamalade for the cherry jam. It does have butter in. I made the cake onceand I couldn't get it cooked in the middle before it burnt at the edges, but the cupcakes are a staple of my baking repertoire - I make them with marmalade instead of cherry jam, and they are delish.

Yep, definitely leave it out-she says so herself https://www.nigella.com/product/changes_feast.aspx the website's really handy as it gives you any changes/errors in each recipe when you click on the book.

How funny. I made this today and didn't put any butter in. I didn't even notice it in the recipe as I'm not that great at reading directions properly!!!

    It's turned out fab. Mmmmmm

This is the best cake to make as the raw cake mix is so yummy as it doens't have uncooked flour in it!

hope you cake turned out nice.

Thanks it was delicious. I have loads left over but I can't see it being wasted. Very moist and light. I think it's my favourite cake.

Poochana, if you like that one she does just a clementine one without the chocolate that is lovely. If you want it I can type it out for you. Although the chocolate one sounds good!

It's a green and blacks chocolate one (you can grate chocolate on it but I left it as my MIL is lactose intolerant).

Infact it is online for the recipe http://www.nigella.com/recipe/recipe_detail.aspx?rid=20002

    Was delish!
