Night before the wedding

Lozza1978, 9 September, 2021 at 23:17 Posted on Etiquette and Advice 0 9
Hi, any advice welcome… I’m unsure what to do the night before my wedding. I’m either staying at the venue or at home with my 2 step daughters, who are teenagers!

I would say satay at the venue if you can as you run less risk of getting stuck in traffic and also gives you more time as you don't need to travel, will also save cost of a car. Can you get connecting rooms and have the girls in one and you in the other? You can then open the door for piece of mind and getting ready but still gives you your own space

The venue isn’t too far away and I do know there’s is option of connecting rooms but the more I think about it the more I think home might be better as we can sleep in our own rooms, plus immediate family like my mum and 2 of my nieces who are bridesmaids can visit on the morning of the wedding to get ready. Plus more people are likely to be able to call the night before if we were at home.
I’m just lost as to what to do the night before as because of their age we can’t really do what I’d really like, like a drink and gossip!

Ah that makes sense, saves money as well and you are likely to feel less stressed and more comfortable at home. Our ceremony venue is an hour away so we are staying close to avoid travel issues! We are having a meal with the bridal party at the hotel and then I will chill with my MOH and our daughters (7 and 3). I don't want to have to much to drink the night before just in case. Could your mum and nieces come over and stay at yours? You could then have a few drinks and maybe play games? If you have a switch you could do just dance competition, just have a bit of fun or a movie? You could maybe do a pamper night, paint their nails for the wedding and face masks (only ones you have used before so you know they wont react) I would say takeaway but I would be paranoid of getting food poisoning! Hope you find something you can all do together and have a good night x

Many thanks, yes I think a few might come over the night before so I like the idea of just dance. Don’t think I want others to stay over as worried no one will get sleep,
It’s a tricky one at their age, especially with me being the soon to be step mum . Thanks
Left everything a bit last minute and it’s beginning to hit me a bit, only 3 months until the wedding and hardly done anything, still clothing and photographer to book 🤦🏻‍♀️

Oh wow, you need to get on that as not long to go! Maybe ask them what they want to do? Get some stepmum brownie points! good luck1

I stayed at the our venue the night before along with my husband , our children and 30 friends and family. I loved it as we all arrived early afternoon , the younger ones played football and cricket the adults had a few drinks in the sunshine and then we had a big dinner in the evening. The actual wedding day goes so fast it was lovely to have the extra day of celebrations.

Aww that sounds nice, if I stayed at venue I already know it’d only be me and my step daughters so thinking home is easier for sleeping arrangements and ideas for entertaining them, plus a few people might visit. We’re only having a small wedding, but do get what you are saying about an extra day celebration 🍾
My fiancé on the other hand is partying 😂

I am staying at home the night before with my parents and my two daughters. My fiancé will be at the hotel near our venue with his elderly mum and probably my sister and her family and any other guests who are staying two nights due to distance. We have agreed to meet at the hotel that night with other family members and have a meal then we will come home and fiancé we stay at hotel. This means we can get ready with my own stuff at home and I’m having a Rolls Royce to pick me up which I’m really looking forward to!
