No Dancing!

Jacqueline, 17 June, 2021 at 17:08 Posted on Planning 0 6
I’m getting married on the 10 July and at the moment there is no dancing indoors allowed. We’re getting married at a hotel and I’m wondering what others are planning to do in the evening? I haven’t seen family or friends for 18 so I’m more than happy to sit and chat with everyone but my fiancé, who is local so sees people all the time is concerned his guests may leave after the first dance. I think he’s worrying over nothing as I think the majority of people are just going to be thankful to be out and attending a wedding. I’ve booked secret singers which can still go ahead but what is everyone is planning to do if anything?

    Wedding day twin!

We are getting married in a Georgian townhouse in central London. Our venue co-ordinator is on leave until Monday so nothings set in stone.
Currently hoping to shimmy on the roof terrace in lieu of a dance floor. We’ll (.plus my family) also be changing into traditional (Yoruba) outfits so that will break up the night a bit.
We’ve got a videographer so are planning a stand in the early evening for photo booth/messages to us to go in our wedding video.
Still looking for more ideas though

You’re very lucky to have that option. Our hotel is a country house and the function room is upstairs. Although it has lovely gardens, to make use of them we’d have to hire a marquee for the disco but it’s proving prohibitive financially and the logistics are difficult. I have no idea what we’re going to do other than have background music and chat. Not really what I was looking forward to ☹️

Though if you read the guidelines dance floors are banned HOWEVER, dancing is strongly advised against inside and outside….. that isn’t strictly a ban so you could in theory shimmy in the function room.

I’ve a feeling that may well happen. Watching the Euros is really winding me up as they’re all singing and leaning all over each other and jumping up and down to celebrate 🤬

My venue have said they haven’t been telling people not to dance and my friend said that at a recent wedding they were all up dancing and singing and the staff left them to it. I think some venues are being more relaxed now than what they were previously.

My venue has said they can’t be seen to be encouraging people to dance so we can’t have a dance floor. My friend went to her nephew’s wedding yesterday and I asked her what happened in the evening and she’d said everyone just danced around the tables so I imagine that’s what people will do. I think my only worry is that my hotel has just refurbished the function room and has brand new carpets, it would be so much better for them if we could have a dance floor! Maybe on the 28th he’ll do his usual U-turn🤞
