No guest wedding

Ellie, 4 August, 2024 at 18:46 Posted on Planning 0 1
Me and my fiancé are 17 at the moment and are planning to get married at 19. We have been together for 3 years and are so in love. Everyone thinks we are crazy for wanting to start this so young but we know it's meant to be, We are very recently engaged and as of right now have not told anyone. We are thinking to have a wedding with just us two a very small ceremony and maybe 5 years later have a big one where we reveal to everyone we've been married the whole time. Does anyone have any ideas on a ceremony we could do for the small one that is adorable and intemate. We want to get married in august x

You won't be able to book anything until you're 18 anyway, unless your parents do it for you, so no need to rush.

I would seriously rethink your idea of inviting people to a 'wedding' and then revealing that you've already been married for 5 years. From your point of view, you are viewing it as a fun surprise, but from their point of view, there is a strong possibility that they may end up feeling cheated. I recently heard from someone who had been a guest at this kind of 'wedding', and she was really upset, because she felt 'lied to'.

So either make your wedding your only celebration or have a celebration/vow renewal some years down the line.

If you definitely want to go ahead with a wedding for just the two of you in two years time, then I would search for elopement weddings. The other option is that you do the legal stuff and then have your own personal ceremony wherever you want.
